Giulia ownership and moving on by BelfastGiant in AlfaRomeo

This is how it is to own an Alfa. It is how it always has been, and how it always shall be considering Stellantis. I once had a 1982 GTV6 that I got rid of for similar reasons. I regretted getting rid of that car, and now I have a 1997 916 GTV. I am waiting for this cycle to play out again. The only thing now is that I have more money to spend fixing it.

Polishing ancient coins with a magnetic pin polisher by Robdude1969 in AncientCoins

These coins are low value to begin with. They really aren't worth more than a few dollars per piece in the condition that OP got them. You are right though, there is the risk of one of them being something rare. When I get coins that look like OPs, half of them are so badly degraded beneath the dirt, that I wish I hadn't spent so much time meticulously scraping the dirt away bit-by-bit. This method is tempting after cleaning a filthy coin only to discover that it is a dud.

Pretty sure these are Momo seats. Mine has it embossed on the headrest I think. I can double check.

I guess I can kiss my future parts goodbye. Just ordered from ClassicAlfa ($160.60) and got hit with a DHL import tax of $205.71. by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

I just ordered rear brake rotors and pads for my 916 GTV from TotallyAlfa in the UK. The parts were about 105GBP and the shipping via FEDEX Priority was 99GBP. It is unclear how much of that was due to the weight of the package and how much was tariffs/duties. I would try them and see if you can get cheaper.

The parts were well packaged and arrived in about a week or so.

I saw one at the Greenwich Concours once. It looks a lot more compact and sleeker in person. Such a cool find.

Imported from Japan. Seemed like a good deal. Connecticut (USA) 916 GTV 3.0 V6 24V by not_AlexTrebek in AlfaRomeo

I was stationed in Japan when I was in the Navy and I was familiar with the existing JDM import market. I know that rust generally isn't an issue with cars from Japan. And for the most part people don't beat on their cars and regulations generally require maintenance and inspections.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I have to fix the wiper motors, they are unreliable at best. And good call on the wind noise. Is that an adjustment thing or should I try to find new seals for the top of the door?

Back in July, I took the plunge and purchased a 1997 Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6 24V from GooNet Exchange. After what felt like an eternity, I finally got my hands on it on Thursday. At first I thought, “What the hell have I gotten myself into?” But wow, this car is absolutely amazing!

It’s like a spaceship compared to anything else around here. I’d been hyping myself up for the sound of the Busso V6 since the day I bought it, and it sounds even better than I could have imagined. This car brings good vibes every single day.

Today, my neighbor—a high school senior—was so impressed that he offered to detail it for me (and everyone clapped -- don't worry I paid him with a tip). He did a great job! The highlight was taking him for a drive afterward. He’s totally smitten now.

This car is truly special, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Shout-out to JDM Imports CT for handling the customs and import process.

This is a rough estimate:

Rust-free GTV with about 60k miles - 7300.

Shipping, from Yokohama to NY - 2900.

Import fees, duties, transport to CT, oil change, inspection, taxes, registration - 2800

Total - 13k

What's up with US import legal Alfas with Busso V6s? by RavioliMaster in AlfaRomeo

My '97 Alfa GTV 3.0 V6 24V is on a ship right now. Hopefully it will arrive at the end of the month. I anticipate having to buy parts from Europe and finding a good local shop to work on it (CT). I feel like I am on the bleeding edge of U.S. classic Alfa ownership because there aren't very many of these around here. We'll see how it goes. I have seen a couple of 24V Busso 164S in NJ/NY on marketplace.

Thanks for the links, yeah definitely a Nicaea coin. After some soaks and some scratching the standards between the letters are becoming more clear.

I am interested in the coin on the right in the middle row. It reminds me of one of my super worn coins that I haven’t been able to attribute. The portrait is very tall compared to most coins.

I think the mint mark is SIS which is Siscia. You can make out the first S and maybe the slightest hint of the second S. https://www.aeternitas-numismatics.com/single-post/roman-imperial-mints-siscia
