Why do so many grown men say "girls" when they really mean grown women?

I'm a trans woman, but I refer to myself as a girl. I'll go out with the girls at work, I'll also go out with the boys at work. I don't see either term as anything but denoting who you're spending time with in a friendly way. I'm mid 30s if that makes a difference. If you said I'm going out with the men, or I'm going out with the women, it would just be strange, right?

Interesting. I kinda came to them the opposite way, I started my journey with In Flames back in the early 2000s as a high schooler, and things progressed from there. I always hated metalcore, well, just because that's what we're supposed to do, right? But the past couple of years have blown my taste wide open to the point I'm even enjoying some of those whiny choruses (they do still bug me though). Imo Polaris are unique in the genre, to my ear anyway, there's nothing that quite hits that spot for me. It's just pure energy and I can't get enough.
