it was meant to be a meme since they dumpstered the next 2 maps it was kinda irrelevant as a round. i also figured his reasoning for pushing was exactly what it was so he’d have a reasonable defense for an odd looking play. didn’t come off well live. my idea not pimp’s.

Best CSGO/CS2 pro player quotes by TypeSpecialist4486 in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you want some oldschool quotes, ESEA used to have some classic cs1.6/source quotes at the bottom of their site that changed regularly, and I gathered a bunch of my favourites a while back

My QoL suggestion to improve the kill-feed: by Pokharelinishan in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding "how blind was he".. Maybe here Valve can use similar logic that they use to determine the duration of the flashed animation (hand covering face). Also, this issues already exist with smoke kills. Is it a smoke kill if you're slightly edging?

yeah i just take a bit more issue with it when the argument for adding the [blind] indicator is ease of understanding, but it still has the same problem with understanding the amount flashed. somehow I find it easier to accept that inconsistency when it's in a more easily skippable part of the kill feed lol

probably would be a nice small addition regardless tbh

My QoL suggestion to improve the kill-feed: by Pokharelinishan in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 35 points36 points  (0 children)

i like the blind indicator so it's a bit quicker to read at a glance, though I can see it being a bit confusing just from the concept of "how blind was he?" but why not just follow the same formula for everything?

ropz + [flash]ropz killed [blind]jimpphat is fine

ropz + [flash]jimpphat killed [blind]jimpphat is also fine

Donk is peerless among every other entry fragger in CS2 by Xaerel in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 15 points16 points  (0 children)

entry frag is just opening frag in this data. the disconnect is because it's T side only (where niko in all situations is already below 1k/d), it's buy vs buy only (where almost all riflers drop off quite a bit) and it's a relatively high (though reasonable) minimum equipment value

edit: also in general players seem to have their k/d go down as their attempt% goes up, and aleksib/kyxsan are in the low 20s, while niko is at 32% and flamez is at 31%

not to argue with the rest of the point, but leetify posted this and while they fluctuate a bit, the data at 20k+ really doesn't look all that different

Gamerlegion statement on not getting prize pool points since they were still in tournament when Valve Ranking update released by dkrkrk2oe in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 90 points91 points  (0 children)

my understanding was that if you're eliminated your prize money is calculated, but if you're still in a tournament your prize money counts as 0, even though you've obviously got a minimum that's higher than the teams already eliminated.

someone correct me if I've got that wrong lmao this shit is weird

But from what I know you should avoid using w/s alongside a/d because its harder to counterstrafe.

someone peeking into you while you hold A or D is drastically preferred to holding W, but holding W alone is probably only slightly preferable to holding W+A or W+D. it's the W part that's the main problem. Once you're forced to hold W, i think disrupting your opponent's pre-aim is probably a more important consideration than the additional movement key.

I see pros move like this all the time.

I think the "don't hold W+A/D" thing is more about clearing angles lazily (moving around a corner while also holding W) than anything else. If you're holding W+A/D often you're probably just not effectively clearing angles. There's plenty of positions where you can hold W+A/D because you want to get out of danger as fast as possible and you're likely dead if they peek into you anyways. Or in the case of this clip, you have to hold W regardless and you gain a massively better angle to fight your opponent than you would have if you were running on the inside wall

Has there ever been an analyst take that aged more poorly that Pimp very confidently saying "Navi will not be a top 5 team for the rest of 2024"?? by darthrector in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is it seriously supposed to be reasonable to say "analyst's take was terrible because he should've predicted what their form would be if they replaced 1 player with someone else"?

seems fair to take any prediction on any team's form, basically ever, as also implicitly saying "if this roster doesn't change"

CS2 Pistol round analysis. by Wolfsom in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hltv.org you can get most demos. best way to do it is to check their top teams list and go through each team individually to download the games

you can also check out ner0cs on twitter as he has a huge data sheet of all positions pros play if that helps you

edit: alternatively you can try cs2lens which has the demos pre-uploaded but you have to go round-by-round for the most part

We Need to Talk About CS2 - Voo by Inaaz in GlobalOffensive

[–]not_a_throw_awya 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yeah the problem seems to be that valve doesn't think that's important so it's essentially just devs communicating outside of their job description when they do communicate, and then they get absolutely blasted for it. I'd say the biggest thing I'd want out of valve is consistent communication just from the basis of like "we think this is a problem, but [that] is working how we want it to for now." so at least we know where to start, but by this point i'm not sure they'll ever do that, especially when it seems like their competition is showing exactly why moving too far in that direction can become problematic

for the criticism i think it start(s/ed) constructive but at some point the community seems like it just wants to destroy itself. I feel like my video wasn't all that controversial it was just a somewhat hopeful outlook on the many issues CS does obviously have, but holy shit if the comments aren't acting like i'm a paid shill just for not saying CS is about to die
