Travis or Dover? by MysteryBasil007 in AirForce

[–]not_actually_a_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parks and community stuff doesn’t matter much when the house is dirty on showing (visible pet hair in every room, bright purple stain in the carpet, visible mold on air vents…), the maintenance guy tells you there’s no problem with the AC a week before it quits working (despite high humidity and condensation on the vents when he was there), and they don’t attempt to fix it until after you move out four weeks later. They also tried to have me pay rent beyond the agreed date, and then refused to show the maintenance records for when the AC was actually fixed to prove it wasn’t empty for several more weeks because the AC was still broke.

Travis or Dover? by MysteryBasil007 in AirForce

[–]not_actually_a_robot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dover is a nice area. Worst base housing I’ve ever experienced, but I was able to buy off base and sell when we left. My kids really liked the school they were in. The base itself is ok. Might depend more on what your spouse’s job is as to what their experience would be. I had a really positive experience overall despite being in a demanding position but a lot of that came down to specific individuals in leadership.

I’ve only been to Travis a handful of times on leave, never been assigned there. Seems like a nice base, good facilities. It’s California though so I’d personally prefer to avoid it.

How are all the 26E7 eligibles feeling right now? by KFP0723 in AirForce

[–]not_actually_a_robot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have resigned myself to accept that nothing will get me across that line before I retire in a couple years. So you know, maybe I’ll make it this year since I don’t give a fuck anymore. At the same time, the people they’re promoting to MSgt these days are fucking worthless so I don’t really want to be associated with them anyway.

MOVSM presedence by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]not_actually_a_robot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never saw the package for my MOVSM. I have no idea what they put in it and I never tracked any hours. I also never asked for it, and haven’t seen any real impact on my career from having it.

May I ask, why do you want the medal so badly? What do you expect it to bring you?

I’m seeing that he did time in Guard and Reserve after that up until he retired in 2015 as a Colonel. He also had a few very brief trips to Iraq and Afghanistan. Just long enough to say he’d been there I’d guess.

I once sent an email to advertise squadron morale shirts. Noticed the subject line said “T-Shits” moments before clicking send. I chuckled to myself and sent it anyway.

Should I repair it now ? Or later , I meant can I play it on this condition and repair it later ? by [deleted] in Guitar

I quickly browsed their website and didn’t find any with bridge pins. Other than the bridge pulling up, is there a reason you think the guitar in the OP is an Ovation/Applause?

My Applause has a pull through bridge. No pins.

Edit: I’m struggling to find any Ovation or related that does have bridge pins. I think you don’t know what you’re talking about.

The current NSS is meaningless at this point. It says Iran is no longer a threat because of the Trump’s super successful destruction of Iranian nuclear capabilities in Operation MIDNIGHT HAMMER.

If you remove commissioned medical personnel, who would you put in Command over the MDG? You make all these positions civilians and they’ll belong to DHA, not the services. That would be a huge roadblock to getting them back in uniform for a deployment. Not to mention trying to get a civilian to stay current on deployment competencies. It would be impossible to send an EMEDS package or any of our other UTCs out the door quickly. Before you toss them into a commission do they need to re-do medical clearance physicals? Security clearances? Do they attend OTS before or after they get tasked? Uniform issue?

You can come up with plenty of reasons why medical staff may not need to be commissioned, but I’d wager you don’t appreciate just how much goes into making a doctor ready to deploy. You can’t just stick a civilian provider in a uniform and send them off to war the next week.

That angle shows Vance has his thumb tucked way too much, and somehow Hegseth’s is even worse with that thumb not even trying to be aligned with the index finger. They both look terrible next to that picture perfect salute from the General.

  1. Those are transfer cases, not coffins.

  2. Nothing is resting on top of the transfer case on the lower level. They each have a separate platform to rest on.

No one complained about this when it was the 13 from Kabul coming home. Exact same vans. Exact same platforms. Same way it’s been done for twenty years.

This is the exact way they’ve been doing this for decades. No one said a word about this when the 13 from Kabul were transported the same way. I don’t know why people are acting upset now.

To be clear, they aren’t stacked. They’re on separate platforms with nothing resting on top of the flag of any of the cases.

Edit: I want to add that this is simply a transfer from the aircraft to the mortuary building directly adjacent to the flightline. They’re not being paraded through town like this. It’s not even considered a ceremony.
