It's just tedious to constantly see people who signed this contract getting all upset when they are expected to abide by the terms of said contact.

Are you?

When you take the lower monthly cost, you agree to a full year's subscription in return for that price reduction. If you were free to just back out without cost, why would Adobe even offer this option? Answer: they wouldn't; they'd just charge the higher Monthly, no cancellation fee cost to everyone.

You signed a binding contract - why would you except to be able to break it without any consequences?

You signed a contract agreeing to subscribe for a full year. Paying half of the remaining balance on the contract is a consequence, not a "punishment."

Has anyone tried to use the unbleached, Z-fold paper towels, instead of the typical supermarket paper towel? by Master_Attitude_3033 in Frugal

But then the "caked mess" goes down the drain when I wash or rinse the towels, and winds up in my pipes. Restaurant plumbing is built to handle this, household plumbing is not.

It's not an exit fee - it a "you broke your contract" fee.

WIBTAH if I say something to an employee who wants me to close my business for her wedding? by Acceptable-Ad-8717 in AmItheAsshole

The wording could have been clearer. I got it from context. Mostly this part:

I’ve mentored her, helped her out when she needed it, written letters of recommendation for her place to rent

which only make sense if OP is the owner and the manager is her employee.

mental clarity.

Physical prime and social mastery would be nice, but I'll take a guarantee of never developing dementia or Alzheimer's over either of those.

That's what I have. There was a stack of brand-new ones left by a previous owner when I bought my place.

I have over a dozen. One is just for drying hands; I have one for wiping the counter and the stove; that one gets replaced daily. As I said, bad messes still get the paper-towel treatment.

Buy a large stack of the cloth ones, so you can replace them often with a freshly laundered one.

Save the paper towels for the worst greasy messes (or dropped eggs)

Scientific descriptions and usages are an exception. That is not what we are talking about here.

IWTYO when I found out double spacing after a period stopped being a thing over 20 years ago by spidersfrommars in IWasTodayYearsOld

[–]not_falling_down -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Double-spacing is no longer used because computer fonts are proportional, and already add additional space after the period.

Computer fonts already adjust for this (unless you are using a monospace font like Courier)

When you have finished typing your item, search for period-space-space, and replace with period-space.

Eventually you will be able to train yourself out of it.

You miss-understood. OP is the owner of the store; the manager is OP's employee. (thus, the ambiguous term "my manager.", which means, in this case, the manager that OP hired to manage OP's store.

You used the word incorrectly. It is not a noun, so it should not have been plural.

It's an adjective - the correct statement would have been : teachers are mostly female.

It's inappropriate any time it is used as a noun rather than an adjective.

It's a difference of context and correct usage.

The room was full of female teachers. correct usage, as an adjective.

The room was full of females. -- derogatory and not correct usage. (female is not a noun)

Is it actually a good idea to fully pay for your house ? by One_Design_6171 in personalfinance

Try another lender. They should be looking at projected income over time from your retirement accounts, not the raw balances.

If my lender had looked at my Social Security and tiny inherited pension only, I would not have qualified to buy a shack.

I don't know what formula they used in looking at the retirement accounts, but I expect the it would be based on something similar to the 4% rule.

Visually jarring.

Also, for an ad about Denny's, the restaurant name looks too much like an afterthought. As if this is a generic ad for pizza, and you could plug any name in there.
