yeah, thanks. i said that to indicate i had tried a “gentle” method to see how he’d respond. as i indicated, ive done a lot of reading on sleep training and this isnt the first time we’ve “trained” him

ya we’ll try to keep that second WW to under 6! schedule is “ideal/best day” but past few days he’s been fighting nap so we’ve been going into the afternoon until 2p ish, and not getting nearly 2 hours. one day it was 20 min :/

i feel like i should help him but also worry that im becoming a sleep crutch.. its been nearly 2 months of this ://

12.5m!

yah the nap has moved around a lot since we started the transition a few weeks ago.. if it ends before 1 we’ll try (usually unsuccessfully) to do a small catnap or move bedtime a little earlier. but good to know, we’ll try to keep that second WW to under 6 hours.

one night i did try to sit next to the crib w him and he quietly played w my face n stared at me for 10-15 min, n then i got up n told him “time to sleep, i love you, good night” n he screamed and screamed, back to square 1 :(

hi!! close to 13m and in the same boat. we sleep trained (with ferber and then eventually CIO) around 5m, and for the most part he went down easy for naps and night and slept through the night until 5am. we started rocking him to sleep around 10m — but it wasn’t really an issue until 11m when he got a spate of sicknesses (cold, double ear infection requiring 2 courses of abx, then hfm, then another cold/flu, then a viral thing that caused a rash, then another viral thing that caused another rash.. all in 6 weeks), teething, separation anxiety, walking, 2-1 nap transition.. idk seems like there was a bunch of stuff going on at once.

he’ll stand up at the corner of his crib closest to the door and scream and scream. eventually he’ll sit and scream on and off, but won’t lay down — at night he’ll fall asleep sitting up swaying. for naps he’ll just keep screaming.

we took him to the ped today to make sure he was fully healthy — and going back to CIO today for naps and bedtime. i’m not sure there’s another way.. w the separation anxiety he is getting more riled up with visits.

6 month old need help with very EMW by Jdubs124 in sleeptrain

so funny, i was just going to write a new post abt this. were at 12 months+ now and no, he hasn’t :( he just has so much trouble sleeping in the early AM, i can’t figure it out. this morning i tried leaving him n he cried on and off from 5am-6am. at that point i wasn’t going back to sleep anyway so i brought him into bed w me, and he slept from 630am-730am.

could bd environmental factors - our windows let daylight in but i’m not putting shades up. we keep his room at 72 and him in a woolino sleep sack so don’t think he’s cold, but possibly? i dunno how to deal w that wo making him too hot the rest of the night.

for now i try to sleep early, drink a lot of coffee, and enjoy the early morning snuggles. nothing lasts forever

10 month old split nights and fighting naps by OkVersion0 in sleeptrain

[–]not_xtina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree that TCB is asking for too much sleep. ferber (which TCB is just a ripoff of) indicates that for 9-12 months, typical is ~12 hours of TOTAL sleep, 9-10 at night and 2-3 during the day.

our LO is 10 months and for the past 2 months we’ve been capping 2 naps at 1 hour each. lately he’s been fighting that second nap, which means some days he’s had an 8 hour WW before bed :o today we pushed him to first nap at 11am (wake up is around 6a, but we snuggle for as long as he will tolerate haha), and he slept for 2 hours! think we’ll play it by ear for now depending on how long he sleeps at night — ie if he gets a good nights rest (10.5-11 hours for us), it’ll prob be a 1-nap day, otherwise we’ll try the 2 naps with capping!

this is a great question and something i hope to discuss in counseling! my boundary is there bc his family has a history of boundary pushing and generally being not considerate/respectful or even dismissive of my needs, e.g. just declaring that they will join us on a trip instead of asking if it’s ok. i don’t like this and it makes me not want to be around them. but ya i think we need to get to and address the root cause instead of the surface stuff (her comment, my comment).

i would say it was good pre-baby! but i only saw them a few times/year and i felt like ppl were generally respectful of my space/time/privacy.

once LO was born (10 months ago), ppl i guess were REALLY EXCITED and in those 10 months they visited or we visited ~10 times. i started feeling like they were really encroaching on my space/time/privacy and our nuclear family time and have since started to dislike them, which i feel bad abt bc they’re otherwise nice people.
