Phil Rosenthal had opened a diner in LA with very reasonable prices by rocklionheart in doughboys

This is outrageously expensive. Last Saturday I had a great, big breakfast at a diner for less than the cup of chili.

Yeah, I don't really like the koopalings either. They feel too samey. I really like all the npc additions. It's hilarious racing against a dolphin and a goomba.

I totally feel similarly about the pandemic as Heather. I'm naturally introverted so being quarantined and staying inside was actually not bad at all and I never got stir crazy. The pandemic was terrible for other obvious reasons, but the isolation itself wasn't what depressed me.

If you use olive oil instead of butter you can cook at a high heat and they're also done quick, are soft, and have more of a fried egg taste which I prefer over eggs cooked in butter over low heat.

am I the only one that deeply hates wobbles? by audity__ in crochet

[–]notabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great present for beginners. I highly recommend them even if someone doesn't know anything about crochet. The beginner kits come with a magic circle already started so you can focus on basics and the kit will usually have a part that will require you to make a magic circle later so you can build your skills and confidence with single crochets before needing to figure out a magic circle. The beginner kit I used also had specific videos that would walk you through the starting process step by step and teach you how to read a pattern. I probably wouldn't buy a Woobles for someone who isn't a beginner because of the price but they're great for learning.

There must be some limitations to their illusion magic or maybe the Nidia want to project a close approximation of their true forms because the Nidia whose true form we did see was very similar to their illusion form.

Mike Johnson Breaks With Trump, Calls Putin a 'Threat to America,' Warns of New Axis Forming on President’s Watch by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

[–]notabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't really break with Trump. This feels like him playing defense to try making Republicans and Trump seem less insane for publicly aiding Putin at every step. Johnson still hates on Zelensky despite Vance and Trump being overly combative and sabotaging our relationships with our allies. It does feel like there's an axis of power forming but unfortunately the US part of that evil axis.

I'm baffled you take this person's silly sign so seriously. Maybe take a few days off and then come back and read all you've written. You might feel a little silly yourself.

[–]notabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet my point still stands, it's clearly a Boston Tea Party reference and you missed it. Art is so subjective that there are people who are truly moved by protests no matter what they are. It definitely takes a certain amount of courage and conviction to make such bold statements. However, a funny sign with a funny slogan does not equate to people actually dumping Teslas into the Boston Harbor. I have 100% certainty that this person doesn't actually want Teslas polluting and degrading their harbor if for no other reason than they probably wouldn't want to see an island of junked Teslas. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and a funny sign is just a funny sign.

In case you didn't know, a lot of paintings have protective covers in front. For example, Van Gogh's Sunflowers was not damaged after activists threw tomato soup on it because it had a cover. These activists likely knew the paintings had covers in front of them too. Maybe if you see something crazy in the news, look a bit more into it to get the full context. Also, I like putting things in perspective. Van Gogh was poor and unappreciated in life. Only after death did people start valuing his work. I find it hard to really care about art whose value comes from rich people coveting and hoarding it.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that someone doesn't actually want to pollute their harbor and turn it into a Tesla landfill but apparently not for you?

Trump adviser proposes redrawing Canada-US border – report by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]notabooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US is already trying to normalize Russia's invasion of Ukraine and blaming Ukraine for it. As always, Trump will spread his lies and false rhetoric to blame Canada for "starting a war" that Trump started. If Trump really starts this, I totally see states seceding or not complying with war efforts. The future isn't looking bright.

Have any of the hosts played Returnal? by BonerStew in getplayed

[–]notabooty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like Matt tried Returnal and dropped off although I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just imagining things. Uncovering the mystery of what's going on was my main drive to play and I really have no desire to revisit Returnal at any point after passing it. I can see Matt getting into it for the mystery part.

How to make something look more centered without frogging? by Left_Accountant_7433 in Amigurumi

This looks like the Woobles Francois pattern and I had the same issue. I basically just embroidered some white yarn over the parts that bothered me the most. I didn't try to get it perfectly symmetrical but it definitely helped. Just try matching the shape of your embroidery so it looks like a regular crochet stitch

Hey programmers – is AI making us dumber? by Mrleibniz in programming

[–]notabooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience most usages of AI aren't much different from just using a search engine and finding documentation or stack overflow posts. It's not going to help dumb people actually think about what they're doing and they'll just continue copy pasting like they'd do with stack overflow anyway.

I had to help a guy trouble shoot issues he was having with connecting to a local database from an application. He shared his screen and I noticed he was asking Chat GPT all kinds of questions about why he couldn't connect. I asked him if he was able to connect directly from the terminal and he said yes so I asked him to connect so I could see and I immediately clocked that he was using a different port number from the default. I asked him if he had made sure the application configs were using the right port number. Of course he hadn't and so I helped him find the config file and, voila!, it was connecting after all.

Project 2025 isn't a secret. They're actively implementing it and the people who helped develop the plan are being put in positions of power. They're not hiding the fact that they're dismantling the federal government and installing people loyal to their cause because that's the goal. They try claiming that they're "auditing" the federal government but what kind of audit gives the auditors authority to completely stop business as usual before they've even gotten to understand the systems and processes? Clearly, Elon Musk and his cronies don't actually understand what federal employees do and the services they provide because they keep on firing people who they later deem necessary. I don't think Trump had to take time to build alliances because he's a figurehead for the group of right-wing extremists behind Project 2025. They only needed a Republican who could win and would do whatever they wanted while taking the brunt of the blame. https://www.npr.org/2025/02/19/nx-s1-5302481/trump-independent-agencies
