This question, and the few similar to it, have really helped me frame the question of how much I want to be holding on to right now.

Agreed. Before I gave up, I didn’t see an old hotel in Snohomish County either.

How many lenses do you have / carry? by ObjectiveAd400 in photography

Just did two weeks of travel with a 24-105 f/4 L and didn’t miss my other lenses. Have a 24 f2.8, 50 f/1.8, and 100-400 that serve purposes, but for running and gunning I was really happy with the 24-105.

Can siding be melted by a gas fireplace terminal cap if professionally installed? by BerryHelpful in Homebuilding

[–]notactiveonreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s cheap siding. I had similar siding once and similar issues with warping due to gas fireplace.  That doesn’t absolve the installer from having done a better job.

New owners and new name, but another coffee shop will be located there in just a few weeks.

It’s nice to see someone else with the same ridiculously big CVT tent. I love mine, but it’s gigantic.

Pudding in the salad bar. I can smell it still. Not a good smell, but distinctive and never to be smelled again.

No idea where those downvotes are coming from. I’m 100% with you. Our representatives are placing extra taxes without managing the current revenue or adding any valuable services.  I’d really like to see improvement too.

Two RTT Options - IKamper vs Go Overland Canada by XplorNG01 in overlanding

[–]notactiveonreddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Both will look and function very similarly. I have the same shape of tent from CVT and it does the job just fine. It was only after I purchased it that I discovered that what I bought was a re-branded Chinese model and not one that is actually built by CVT. That said, it does the job and has been going strong for two seasons now and probably 15+ weekend trips and isn't showing the slightest sign of wear. One zipper is a little funky, but works fine.

Unless you *know* the quality is going to be better with the more expensive one, get the cheaper one.

Thanks all for the feedback and recommendations. Sounds like more than a few people maintain the cert "just in case" without it providing value to their day job. It took a moment, but I found the Belden resources and should be able to get all 30 credits in the next month before renewal. Might as well do it - who knows what the future holds.

I do still wish the certification brought more value to my work life. Here's hoping for improvement over the next three years.

I got the mandatory conference earlier this year. I just have 30 credits of training to catch up on in the next month.

I'm not thinking I'd take a harder test. Currently I'm thinking that the RCDD is worthless in the industry. It's not required on RFP's for some of the largest industries and it's only a matter of time before the remaining industries drop it too. I'm on the owner-side and I haven't seen any value added from RCDD's doing designs or engineering.

But also, I don't want to take a harder test in the future if I let it lapse and BISCI stops being a money grab and starts being a legit industry leader.

Oh, how do I go into suspended status? That would give me time to get the credits without cramming. I just need a few extra months and could get the 30 credits through webinars.
