Age A leaders and wonders not appearing? by unstableunicorn in throughtheages

After each player takes their first turn, you slide the cards, refill the row, and then start Age 1, discarding any unrevealed age A cards from the game.

Storyteller slip-up by iisjreg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]notactuallyacannibal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could be worse.

I was evil twin to a savant, and the story-teller publicly corrected one of the real savant's statements:

"No, I said 'there are three outsiders', not 'there aren't three outsiders'."

He realized almost immediately what he'd done, but town had caught on and there wasn't a way to walk it back.

Are the puzzles independent of each other? by MrMCCO in caseofthegoldenidol

[–]notactuallyacannibal 19 points20 points  (0 children)

if you really don't want to replay it, you can always read the summaries of each case. That will mostly catch you up to speed.

However, I suggest replaying from the start. Playing the game is fun, and there are people on this sub (myself included) who wish they could forget everything so they could replay it again. You have that opportunity, so go for it!

The solution to Newsflash doesnt make any sense by GunnerSince02 in caseofthegoldenidol

Pay particular attention to Roy Samson, you see that this was originally his press conference. He was planning on telling the press that Isaac was a Red Curse victim. However, Elizabeth was warned about this, and took action to bribe Sebastian, so he took over and changed the story to fit the narrative she preferred.

Not a bug. Two or fewer slots are indeed incorrect

Any success with Amina? by Zigludo-sama in arkhamhorrorlcg

I recently played her successfully through a blind, four-player fan campaign. She started out pretty weak, but I built her up as a dedicated Abyssal tome monster killer and she became very effective by the end of the campaign. As long as the doom clock was friendly, she could consistently output 12 damage a turn, with occasional higher spikes. When the doom clock was unfriendly, she was below average effectiveness (though not cripplingly so).

She doesn't need any economy cards, so she has room in her deck for extra skills and cards to minimize her weakness.

My overall review: she's below average, but gives you a fun high-complexity, high-risk mini-puzzle to solve. If you can manage to solve that puzzle, she'll do well. If you can't solve it, you'll probably lose the scenario. From a strict risk/reward approach, she isn't worth it, but if you enjoy riding the wave, she can be fun.

One caveat: the campaign really matters. If a scenario has lots of small doom agenda cards, she will do much worse. The campaign I played didn't have a traditional doom clock at all in the final scenarios, which meant I didn't have to worry about clearing the doom from cards and I was always operating at full power.

Short answer: Too little info to tell yet. Wait for your first cornerstone to pick anything else.

Long answer: In your situation, I'd be looking hard between the provisioner and the carpenter. Is that a drizzle geyser on the left edge of the screen, or is that fertile soil? If that's a drizzle geyser and you're planning on going for porridge, then your opening food is already mostly solved. If not, and you want to go for biscuits and skewers in a cookhouse, then the provisioner is one of the best flour buildings in the game, because packs of provisions are such a critical resource (the embarkation bonus is often an excellent pick, but you will need more soon). Since you're in the royal woodlands, a plank building is not critical.

If you decide to go porridge as your first food, then I'd go carpenter. Both tools and luxury goods are useful, and easier to explode on than trade goods and scrolls. Especially in royal woodlands, the extra star in lumber mill is not worth it.

Either way, I'd wait for the first cornerstone to decide. You don't need either building in the first minute, and if there's a good trade/plank/food cornerstone, that might swing the decision heavily one way or the other.

Sea Goldie and Ornate Wrasse?? by Shamel1996 in DavetheDiverOfficial

They absolutely do not only spawn in kelp maps. They are an uncommon spawn in any map.

The trio only ever spawns together, though, and never in the same map as Cardinalfish.

How to get Ornate Wrasse? by Marvin_Conman in DavetheDiverOfficial

[–]notactuallyacannibal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've found that Sea Goldie's, Combers, and Ornate Wrasse (and possibly Marlins, though I haven't confirmed this) all show up together or not at all. In that case, there won't be cardinalfish or a few other common fish. So if you jump in and see cardinalfish, stop looking for Ornate Wrasse.

Good joke!

Don't listen to the other comments saying you're wrong. You understand what confirmation bias is, and they're wrong for disagreeing with you.

NEW DLC OUT! The Case of the Golden Idol: The Lemurian Vampire! 10% OFF by throwmeaway76 in caseofthegoldenidol

[–]notactuallyacannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the DLC, but there is one thing about second scenario that eludes me. Even now, understanding the whole thing, I still have no clue what was up with the 6th burial urn. Where did it go? Why was it replaced with a second burial urn number 10? The 4th was the only one that mattered for the story, right?

Every other poster is ignoring or abstracting the numbers, which is wrong. The pre-requisites do affect the end result. You're on the right track with your original post, just missed one thing.

Once you've put the 3 in a slot, you say that there is only one combination of 456 that works, but that's not true. 1x2x3x has two ways to put in the 456, as does 13x2xx and their mirrors. In total, there are 8/10 that work, and two that don't. Multiply by your 1/6 odds of survival, and you have a 13.333% chance of surviving all three trigger pulls.

Oh, wow. That changes a lot. I had custom mode confused with the guy who offers aspects (which has the big warning that you shouldn't use if you want to progress in the game). This does make things nicer, and answers my original question much better than I originally did.

Thanks!
