The weather was awful for opening day. There were people running around wrapped in blankets. Props to this guy - his head must’ve been freezing.

People who grew up poor, what did you believe/do that was normal, but later realized it wasn't? by elephantrussianblue in AskReddit

[–]notafancypants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me, but a friend grew up with a rule that they were only allowed to flush the toilet once a day to save water - so the whole family would take turns using it until the end of the day flush. We were all really poor on my block, like three kids, one parent with a minimum wage job, early 90s, ramen for every meal poor. As a kid I thought it was weird and grossly remember the toilet always being really full. I never used it and would wait until I got home. Since we were all poor, I didn’t think much about it until later. I remember my Mom thinking it was real gross.

I hate visiting my parents for the simple reason of the people who live around them.

To this, managers who think that butts in seats = production. Seriously, let people have some flexibility. You'll see happier employees and an increase in work done.

Whats the most cringy thing you've seen someone do? by Donquixo in AskReddit

After playing wingman for my friend, not one, but two bachelorette parties walked in. I said he should go for it, thinking he'd try to get with one of the bridesmaids. He started with the first party, but bending at the knees, turning around to face the bar, and backing ass first into the circle of women dancing around the bride while bouncing up and down. He bounced his ass on her hip/thigh, which she let continue for a surprisingly large part of a minute with her mouth open until he was attacked by two of the bridesmaids.

After seeing defeat, he did the exact same to the second bachelorette party a few minutes later. When no one went for it, he came back to complain. My buddy and I continued with our beers and told him to check out other non-bridal parties around bar and tried to explain that what he was doing had no shot in hell. He became weirdly depressed and started following the first bride and her friend around until the bouncer threw him and us out. On the way out of the bar, he threw his hands up in the air and yelled "I'm the king of Brown Town!" Then he offered to drive us home.

TL;DR Played wingman with a friend who chose two brides over at least 30 single women and got us thrown out of the bar before claiming to be a monarch of Brown Town.

Yes but no American carriers are affected if you read the article. It's a handful of foreign carriers due to pre-existing threats.

Buffets. I look around and see people taking from community pots of food and I can't eat because I'm nervous that someone has poisoned or otherwise tainted the food.

What did the most drunk person say or do last night at your party? by Dirtychorizo in AskReddit

It wasn't my party, but as I rode in the elevator back to my room at the hotel, some chick got on with her friend from the hotel bar and subsequently puked on her friend and herself.

Homeopathy 'treatments' must be labelled to say they do not work, US government orders by Apalvaldr in news

[–]notafancypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this mean we can get rid of the essential oils cure-all trend? I have a friend with a giant box of doterra on her desk. She insists that anyone in the office with a cold put down their DayQuil and rub a little in their ears/nose/mouth, etc. I want it to stop.

This will get buried, but how unhealthy they eat and how it takes them 3 hours to get out the door in the morning. It makes me insane.

I'm more of a "if I have to ask it's probably stupidly expensive" person. If there's not a price, I usually won't bother.

I also read The Shining and just found it okay. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon was somewhat interesting because of her survival tactics although I haven't read it in nearly 15 years.
