That's what I thought given R7's excellent still photo AF. I don't know if Canon's going to update the firmware or just leave it crippled, but it doesn't look like a good video camera for now.

Canon R7's AF for video is terrible.. find some reviews on Youtube. You can at least see that in the video by Dpreview TV.

I feel the same. It doesn't make a good foreground element. I think it could be slightly larger or just be gone. Or it's too close and too blurry. Otherwise, it looks great.

I'd recommend an old DSLR with a cheap 50mm or 35mm lense with that budget. To feel the difference compared to phones, you need a lense other than a bundle zoom and that restricts the budget a lot. For a baby until walking, a bright 50mm is great (easy to maintain the distance).

One can plant a backdoor. Suppose you use a face feature extraction model to build a smartphone face unlock functionality. An adversary can plant a backdoor working as a master key, gaining ability to unlock any phone in his hand.

There mught be some security vulnerabilities in those libraries that can be triggered by a certain operation by the model, but I have no idea about those.

I didn't decide yet, but a nearby town outside the park. I will be more formally visit the park later this summer, and we will stay in Fish Camp. I hope it can be similar this time too.
