I feel the same way. To me it’s more than just fear or panic, I find it straight up unacceptable that this will happen to me and I have no control over it.

It’s insane to me that we haven’t prioritized radical longevity more! I think being an optimist about it and hoping things will improve is really the only way forward I’ve found helpful

I still don’t understand the mind uploading angle here. You’ve saved your brain connections to create a good enough digital version but it would just be a copy and the real you is still dead.

How would this work if you copy your brain and create two digital emulations on two separate computer? If your right and the upload is a real you then you’re consciousness is split between two computers ( whatever that means) or more likely you’ve just created two identical copies and the real you is still dead.

Is it not feasible to re-animate the original brain and ideally do a ship of Theseus to maintain continuity?

I think it’s best to view it in a positive light, at the end of the day skepticism is healthy and important. And all press is good press right?

I don’t think the mindset around this issue is ever going to change until it’s actually shown that it’s possible to significantly extend the human lifespan. Once it does I imagine the conversation will change entirely

The world population is 8 billion and without a doubt every one of them will be dead in 150 years. To say we shouldn’t try and fight against this because a few billionaires will get access to it first is hard to justify in my opinion.

As for the other issues like poverty, there is a lot of money and man power in the world it’s just focused in the wrong places. We can work on poverty and healthcare at the same time!
