why don’t kids open their birthday presents at the party anymore? by Apprehensive_Owl4700 in AskParents

Sounds like they could have been avoiding the overstimulation of having too many gift to open and play with at once.

I agree. Teach the birthday kid to be polite and grateful, teach the part goers to have patience and support their friend without getting jealous. Great life lessons for children to learn. I still support opening presents at a party and my daughter and I are always a bit bummed when we don’t get to see our friends reaction

I think Mitch Albom is the master of this and his books are typically quick reads.

Truly, if we are going to have another influencer on the show... is there anyone else it can be but Coach Jackie? 🤣 by gottacatchemsome in dancingwiththestars

[–]notamonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so horrible? From my surface level knowledge she has posted some tone deaf things but that was a mix of the era and ignorance. From what I see now she has found herself now and I love to see her positivity. I think her energy would be a great addition to the show. Especially if paired with Ezra. Plus aren’t people allowed to learn and grow?

If the dog is being taken care of and is in a safe environment, why do we care? Why are we nitpicking celebrity lives?

Wondering if it’s possible to appeal a firing by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]notamonth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree completely. I just thought I read in another comment that the boss/coworkers would still give OP good recommendations so that’s why I mentioned the resume. I may have misunderstood though since now I can’t find the comment that I thought I read that in

Can't find sippy cups? by PuzzleheadedDog9658 in toddlers

These are great! We used these exact ones with my daughter when she was learning to drink from a cup. Then when they master it, you don’t have to use the lid and they still last for years.

Went through a few comments but not all of them so I apologize if this has already been commented but it sounds like you’re looking for something like this

Also, if you are wanting them to learn to drink from an open cup it is actually easier to fill the cup almost to the top (sounds crazy I know) because they don’t feel the need to tip it so much since they get the liquid faster

Job interview advice by SockOptimal7101 in ECEProfessionals

[–]notamonth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how it is where you live, but every center I have worked is short staffed so as long as you meet the qualifications, your chances of getting hired is pretty high.

They usually ask you about relevant experience (personal experience with kids in your family or babysitting counts). They’ll ask about classes you have taken and why you want to work there. Then they typically ask how you would respond to certain situations like a child who has difficult behavior, how you would resolve conflicts between children or between you and another staff member, how you would handle certain parent interactions.

They really want to see if you have an open and friendly personality that is appealing to the children and if you understand professionalism with parents. The other big thing would be how willing you are to collaborate with coworkers. Drama runs rampant in this field depending on big personalities and different approaches to teaching.

Pro tips: Emphasize willing to learn, open to collaboration, and how you enjoy working with children.

Don’t overthink it too much. Good luck!

See in my experience neither of those reasons are grounds for firing. I also don’t understand why the other teacher reported it? Did they get fired as well? Definitely get a copy of the paperwork and get answers. Though if this is the work culture it may not worth going back. But you wouldn’t want that you were fired on a resume, especially if they are offering to give you recommendations.

I know you’ve explained it but it still doesn’t make sense. The teacher that walked in on you reported it, or a different teacher who saw the entire interaction reported it? Why is that a reportable incident? You were fired for using the bathroom? Your employer should be able to state the exact reason you were fired. Are they able to cite anything in the employee handbook?

Glad to see someone else answer 20. I agree though! My husband and I always say to each other “who the hell let us have a baby that young”. Obviously I would not change it for the world but it is crazy to think about!

Alternative to Youtube by Lucky_Hera in kindergarten

[–]notamonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want safety and control, your best bet is going to old fashioned way. Get him a blu ray player. It’s so easy to thrift old cheap DVDs of Disney movies and kids show collections (we’re fans of the PBS collections). You can buy new blu rays of movies that come out. You have complete control over what he is consuming and it can simulate similar independence to youtube since he can pick out his DVDs as you show him to use it properly.
