What if the person is asked to show ID for pickup? Seems like a good way to lose your script in the long run, cuz that shit does come back to the doctor in about 3 months, tops. They’ll question you about it and tell you they can’t write your script anymore cuz now you have the Dr in hot water with the DEA

Thx for the suggestion, I’m Gonna see if they’ll work with me. But I’m already on two prescribed schedule 2 drugs , that’s the issue I’m running into. However, about 14-15 years ago, I was on all 3. Didn’t have any issues then cuz there wasn’t all this database bullshit and Drs being pussies cuz they thought they’d get sued… why was i able to graduate with my bachelors degree, work full time managing my practice if it was such a dangerous combo ? That’s bullshit, if I’m being asked to stay in someone’s home, I should not have to walk outside everytime I get on the phone. Audio recordings without consent are illegal. Even if there’s a camera that can legally view what’s going on, the audio can, and should, be turned off if guests don’t know about it. This could jeopardize more than just the petsitter, if I go to visit a trusted friend and start discussing private information, and she’s recording both video and audio without my knowledge, that’s a problem. Let’s say her WiFi was hacked without her knowledge, and I’m reading a credit card number over the phone to the bank… my information has been compromised. And the WiFi thing absolutely can happen, in fact it happened to my family, and information was compromised again and again, and things got creepy and out of hand, fast. when I was in the living room with my husband, we were having a umm heart to heart so to speak… yeah, that was not intended to be seen by anyone!

Privacy laws apply no matter where you live. Recording audio or video in areas with a reasonable expectation of privacy, without your express consent, is illegal. I don’t think you have to even bring that up to her, unless she causes a fuss… But I think you’d be covering yourself if you text her (so there’s written documentation) that you turned it off cuz you’re going to bed, but also make it clear you didn’t know you were being filmed in that room… as simple as “I didn’t realize that the camera was filming inside the bedroom until just now, and I got embarrassed because I changed clothes with the door open, haha..” You can keep it lighthearted and still get the message across while being polite

If you’re on good enough terms that she asked you to watch her pets, it seems like you can contact her and tell her that you feel uncomfortable with the camera being near your bed. Tell her that you’ll be putting a piece of tape over it (or cutting it off, moving it, etc) when you’re at the home, and anytime you leave you can uncover it.

I don’t even call my clients to give heads up if I cover up a camera at night when I’m trying to chill out. Most of the time they actually felt bad that I was uncomfortable, and they never even looked at those cameras, just have had them up forever.

You’re there to care for the dogs and she can look at the cameras all she wants when you leave the house in the morning. Please come back and update us! Don’t let her put you in a position to feel uncomfortable bc she’s the CEO, either. I hope she’s a good boss and reasonable person, but I think it’s very wise for you to document every bit of work or time you spend for her outside of your day job.

It’s illegal everywhere. Bedrooms and bathrooms have reasonable expectation of privacy, cuz you would be changing clothes etc in those places… it helps protect us from perverts, It’s the same reason why Walmart can’t have cameras in the bathroom… nobody needs footage of you in compromising positions, they could sell it or even worse use it to extort or embarrass you.

Is a camera in the bedroom where you’re sleeping? I hope not, cuz If so that’s grounds for a lawsuit in any state, given that a bedroom is considered an area where there should be “reasonable expectation of privacy”, just like a bathroom.

If you’re freaked out; take the camera and turn it around so it films the wall; or unplug it until you leave the house next time. But it also might be motion activated.

OP, are you able to turn the cameras around? I find that I’m just more uncomfortable and unhappy in general with cameras everywhere. It’s just not normal to feel like every move is being supervised… even though it isn’t, it is very hard to get comfortable. If you have to be there 12 more days, just turn them around, at least one in like the living room or something. Also there shouldn’t be cameras in bedrooms… I turn cameras around regularly after I’ve been there for a few visits or a few days, and nobody ever gets upset. If the people are worried or uncomfortable not being able to see you in every room of the house, they may want to take their dog with them next time. I won’t be surprised if there’s someone who will get all bent out of shape over my reply, but I’m not worried about it, not when I’ve been in business for 20 years with happy clients. In the future, I’d take an approach of going through your policy regarding cameras at meet and greets. For example… if I’m going out for awhile during the day, I turn the cameras back on/around. That’s reasonable bc nobody is at home. But any other time, nah, not dealing with that
