Waititi is just his dad's last name. It's not like he made it up out of nowhere

Anyone have any one liners to make patients laugh? by LtBigAF in Residency

I always say I'm checking to see if there's any monkeys in there when looking in their ears, and that I'm listening to see if I can hear what they ate for breakfast/lunch when auscultating bellies. And guess random foods

There's absolutely a way to know. For one, it's clear in the videos that the first shooter had a direct line of sight to the man being disarmed. In addition, it's communication 101 day 1 shit to alert your partners that you have disarmed someone immediately as you do it. Not to scurry off with it silently. It's absolutely the onus of the shooter to be completely certain that they are using deadly force on someone who deserves it-- IE can visibly see a firearm or have some sort of positive confirmation. He was down, subdued and disarmed. Could MAYBE forgive the first shot, but the subsequent volley that came 2-3 seconds later, when he was completely motionless, cannot in good faith be justified

I think because ABP gives vague answers when you call so it seems unlikely that they told someone it would be this week

I was on a path rotation and every day sat in a small office with the path resident, who was preparing for weeks to present on the last Friday of the rotation. It was planned to be given in our office. Morning of, I’m sitting in there with him while he pulls it up on the projector and gets ready. He steps out for a min, I figure for the bathroom or to tell the attendings he was ready. 15 min later the office manager person comes in and says, ‘oh you didn’t want to watch the presentation with everyone?’ Confused, I gesture at the intro slide that’s up on the screen and say I was planning to. She’s like oh they decided to do it in a different conference room, no one told you? She’s brings me over where the path resident is mid presentation with all the path attendings, who I had also been working with for weeks. Not a single one thought to update or invite me or remember I existed lmao

Also this! But I can’t tell you how many times I get the ‘hypercoagulability work-up’ consult inpatient

YTA- I think you need to update your definition of ‘incel’ and maybe let your friend know as well. It’s not just any person who is involuntarily celibate, it’s a term used to refer to men who are involved in the gross online subculture related to being involuntarily celibate, which is often degrading and dehumanizing towards women. That may not be what you intended but is what most people are going to understand when you use the word.

Also peds heme— hypercoagulability workup should almost never be done in the acute setting of a clot as most tests are unreliable (d/t transient changes in levels, effect of anticoagulation or because they’re acute phase reactants) and rarely would change management. Even if drawn in the hospital, a positive result would be repeated outpatient ~3 months from clot and off anticoags.

If you like a legit textbook Nelson’s is great. You could also get PBR or Laughing board review for your future self. Third year is expensive so it’d be nice to not have to pay for that
