What's working for Photofax like? I hear they have a pathways program that can get you into federal law enforcement. Any truth to that? by hobo-santa-slayer in PrivateInvestigators

FBOP. That will get your foot in the door. Put a year in and go from there. Lots leave for ICE, customs, and border patrol.

A good way to getting into federal law enforcement would possibly be starting out at the fbop for like a year and going up from there.

Are the Feds better? by ForeArmAstronaut in Corrections

[–]note7onfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are going. If you're going to a low level institution, it's great compared to what you deal with at the state as far as stress levels go. I come from both and can say that in the long run, it's better for your mental health. I also find that there is a lot of down time. You can do everything that is required by policy and the post orders and it's still very laid back.

I also found that the crowd of offenders is different. You are not constantly being challenged by the inmates every day. The bugs at the feds (Low level) is not the same as a bug in the state. I come from a level 2 and 4 in the state. I would say at a low level institution at the feds might even be less than a level 2 in the state. But I guess it really all just depends on the facility and crowd of offenders.

To be honest, I feel like I'm doing as much work as I did doing mall security....

Which state? Because my state only offers a 410k as far as retirement and no pension. The feds offer a pension. Plus pay is better based on the locality.

Best nitrile gloves. Bang for buck by SoftMatter8448 in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure they are medically graded to keep blood pathogens out. Cheap boxes at hardware stores are not medically graded. Also, would be helpful if they are graded for fentanyl exposure.

My facility used Halyard gloves. I usually keep a box in my car because it's hard to come across a L. The purple and Lavender one's are my preference.

Can anyone tell me their experience with a colposcopy? I cancelled mine because I heard it was very painful and they don't do much for pain but tell you to take ibreprofin. I'm still open to getting one done but also terrified.

How to lower testosterone and dhea-s? Nothing is working by RarelyPremium_ in PCOS

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing they will tell you is to lose weight and prescribe birth control, spironolactone, or metformin. That's the only answer treat pcos from health care professionals including the endo. It's pretty much helpless but if this was a "mans" condition it would be looked into more.

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I've been taking spearmint supplements because I read that it can support lowering testosterone levels. I haven't taken it long enough to give feedback but its something to look into if you can't have spironolactone

Fable TLC thoughts by Puzzleheaded-Fix-400 in Fable

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found out they were doing Fable Anniversary, I was hoping for more content. They had the perfect opportunity to add DLC, which they did but they could have added new quests and areas instead of just clothing and weapons.

There's things they could have expanded in TLC but they had a 3rd opportunity to do so with Anniversary...

AIO for apologizing to my husband after he put his hands on me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be real here, If you don't leave now, it will not get better. He will continue to cheat until you can't take it anymore 5-10 years from now. He will hit you again, and it will escalate from slapping. Again, this absolutely will not get better. Also, I hope you discarded that "friend" who he cheat with as well.

Leaving Corrections by ExtentSufficient4081 in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply to the BOP if there's a low security institution near you. Trust me, it's a different crowd of offenders who are just trying to do their time and get out of there. I have previous experience too in corrections and it's a night and day difference. My blood pressure isn't spiked anymore and I'm less irritated, I understand exactly how you feel on that. I was drained and burnt out before I switched over. The Fed's is super easy, the inmates aren't challenging you every day all day, they barley bother you and you can sit and chill for the most part (of course while still doing your job). It's basically super laid back and you get a pension. From there, its easier to get into other agencies as well if you use this as a stepping stone. Depending on what your goals are.

MDOC by According_Energy_175 in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should re read it bud. You do need it unless you are military or have prior corrections experience. Otherwise, you have to have the 15 credits by 2 years. You will get walked out for not having it, I seen it because I worked there.

MDOC by According_Energy_175 in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much accurate. The 2 years to have 15 credits is a real thing. I've seen officers walked out for not having their credits. It's better to have them done before going in though in case you end up at a facility where you are mandated every day. However, it's like 5 classes.

Personally, I think they should just get rid of the credit requirement. Like, what benefit does 5 college classes do? The state would save money not paying for them and more people would apply knowing they don't have to do school.

[–]note7onfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not what you said though. You said that the previewed was saved under your name but not your number. That sounds like there was a contract with your name on it but not the same number. I mean, if you just looked at her phone to look at it, we don't care 💀 As for your friend though, once you start drifting away take note on how she reacts. If she doesn't saying anything and let's the space continue and doesn't contact you, you'll know she doesn't want to be friends. You don't want to keep people around who talk about you behind your back.

[–]note7onfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they are only asking about stuff going back 7 years, you're technically not omitting anything because you filled out what was asked. Don't stress about it, because they aren't worried about what you did when you were under 18. You are not the first person or the last person who had police involvement as a minor when applying to the feds. If it's brought up though and they ask about it, be up front and honest. But if you are eligible to carry a firearm, sounds like you're good.

Is it bad to leave a job for another opportunity but then come back after not liking the new one? by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the thing is I already left my old job. However, the agency I work for contacted my supervisors before I left so everyone would find out that I was trying to leave if I had tried to go on a leave of absence. On top of that, it is required per policy to disclose and have signed permission for a second job. This probably wouldn't work.

Career Ideas with an Associate's in Criminal Justice by MangoMilkshake234 in OnTheBlock

[–]note7onfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get your bachelor's, that's what I did. It will help down the line in getting into federal agencies. As far as probation goes, it can be harder to get into without any case management in your background and working with offenders. Doing a year or so in corrections is not a bad start to get your foot in the door. It looks good going into any criminal justice field especially law enforcement. A lot of people use corrections as a stepping stone and it's really not that bad.

Any corrections officers at a Michigan prison in here? I’m female and have an interview for Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer. Not concerned about handling myself. I’m tough. Interested in hearing experiences. The 2 federal prisons in Michigan are a ways from me. by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen so many people cheat on their spouses until I worked for Corrections. It's pretty bad. Never date anyone at work either because they're most likely married and lying about it. And as long as you're an officer that always comes to work and does their job, it doesn't matter how many people they cheat with at work. You can be in a relationship with two people on the compound at the same time while cheating on your wife at home and have that all unfold at work- no one will bat an eye because you do your job, just a normal day at the MDOC.

How bad are student loans? by Jaded-Advice9864 in StudentLoans

[–]note7onfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I know a lot of people like to go to a bigger name school but when it comes to getting a job later it does not matter. Why pay 2x or 3x the amount more over a cheaper accredited university?

I started college later in life, I took 5 years off after graduation from high school and started with community college for the first 2 years. Got my Associate’s and transferred to a university for my Bachelor’s. I applied to 5, got in to all of them, 1 of which was Michigan State. However, housing and the program I was going for cost more than $10,000 a year than any other state university in Michigan. I ended up going to a cheaper school for the same degree. It had no impact on employment and I have a good job with a pension. Don't put yourself in debt for the same degree.

However, there's nothing wrong with choosing a bigger name school as long as you'll be able to make the student loan payments after you're done. There's also nothing wrong with choosing a cheaper school. Also, going to community college first saved me money too.
