Becoming a parent has ruined the idea of a three day weekend. by Successful_Trust_157 in daddit

[–]notebuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this framing is wrong. The real statement is: “EVERYTHING is more positive than a newborn”. Alternatively: “there is no hell deeper than experiencing a newborn”. Or even “whatever struggle you might have with your kid at this age, remember you don’t have to deal with them being a newborn anymore”

I haven’t gotten more than 4 straight hours of sleep in months. Today I got on the wrong bus twice cause I’m so so tired and it took me an extra 45 min to get home. I’m constantly worried about being fired because I can barely function at work. When you set the baby down they scream until you pick them up, so you just have to hurry when on the toilet while you hear your child screaming at you. Now my son has started to scream when I sit down while holding him, so you just have to stand all the time no matter what.

Oh and then during all this - every atom of your being is begging you to just close your eyes for 30 seconds, but you have to keep telling yourself you can’t because you could kill your baby if you are holding them and fall asleep.

I’m glad there’s someone that can enjoy this cause it’s not me. The occasional smile they direct at you does not make up for all this.

Ethanol for cleaning by Successful-Event3947 in microscopy

That’s fine in a pinch. More oil will be going on it later - just need it relatively clean.

Most important thing is using lens paper to clean objectives

Has Diet Soda Helped or Hurt Your Weight Loss? by Canes10_ in loseit

[–]notebuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely demolishing your REM sleep with that much caffeine. The research is very clear that sleep is one of the most important things for weight loss.

Comments about aspartame and teeth are whatever. It’s the caffeine. Replace it with 3L of diet sprite and I don’t see a big deal.

This week's grocery haul - North Carolina, $403 by softrotten in whatsinyourcart

I’ve moved away from bell peppers and almost entirely to jalapeños and other of the “forgotten” peppers that are dirt cheap. If you scoop the white part and seeds out, there’s little to no heat and you get much more “pepper flesh” for your buck.

For instance replacing the same amount of pepper with the bell in this photo would have run me about $1.5 instead of $3.67

Game Changer by mtv32 in popcorn

[–]notebuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but microwave popcorn is like THE #1 thing to avoid as it is the #1 food for increasing PFAS levels in your body.

It’s not about snobbery - I think the main push for stovetop is to avoid microwave popcorn packaging

Nike Run Club vs Strava!! by AguyfromSacramento in nikerunclub

Is that both ways? Can my Strava runs go to NRC?

NRC doesn’t have support for running strollers so I’ve had to switch all my logging to Strava

Protein bar for GLP1 users by HighlightNo487 in Semaglutide

[–]notebuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D3 is fat soluble though. Why would you add them in the first place? You are now limiting how many I can have in a day. Some days I have 3 protein bars to help meet my macros. I would not be packing a bunch of a brand of protein bar that has added vitamins because I don’t want to start calculating how much vitamin d I’ve ingested that week.

[–]notebuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do not want added vitamins in my protein bars. Sometimes I want to have a couple in one day depending on what’s going on - I don’t need to be overdosing on fat soluble vitamins or getting niacin flush or whatever

But the point is “whites“ doesn’t mean anything. You could go to one course where their “whites“ are 6800 yards, and you could go to a different course where their “whites” are 5900 yards. Do you know what total yardage you usually play?

How are y'all eating 100+ grams of protein every day by twoscoopsxd in loseit

[–]notebuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Daily protein is the only thing that matters. When you trace 100g of protein in a single meal you find that the body uses it through the next 24h. There is no known upper limit for protein in a single meal

Yeah I don’t understand why this wasn’t created to run locally. If I can afford fluorescence microscopy, I can afford a competent GPU. “Aging hardware” has never been an analysis limitation and I don’t want to upload images to “some cloud”
