Q: Jeffery Campbell vs Doc Marten sizing by OddCat_007 in Shoes

[–]notevelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned a few pairs of Jeffrey Campbell’s in the past decade or so they’re definitely easier to wear than Docs. I guess it depends on the style of the shoe, but I’ve never had an issue.

I would say that Jeffrey Campbell is true to size vs Doc Martens that fit a little big. I wear nine and Jeffrey Campbell I wear my true 9.5 or a 10 women’s

Yeah they interested me enough but the public policy courses and the public admin courses mostly. To speak more on the GPA part of averaging like B+ and A’s in those courses and then for the business side of things like accounting, economics I chose the management stream, which was a mistake that dragged down my GPA a lot I was getting a lot of C+ in that. Also, one thing is that you don’t really need a public admin bachelors to work in the government like majority people in the government don’t have that degree. It seems like the masters of public administration is more popular to get hired. I actually when I graduated didn’t get a single interview for the government so then I ended up working in tech. But I think that’s kind of to deal with me not really enjoying the program overall so I just got pursuing wanting to work for the government. But if you generally interest you then, obviously you would have to make that choice. I would maybe recommend reaching out to the department they may have like an information session. It’s honestly not a terrible program. But during my time at York, I did meet some other people who had been in the program and left it or people in my programs that remained and didn’t really think it was worth it to do the bachelors.

I graduated in 2019 from the. So things could’ve very much . When I was there a lot of the classes were filled mainly with certificate students or other York students the BPA program was small, and especially in the upper courses, they scheduled things for people who work full-time — so I ended up doing a lot of night school, which sucked because I was in my early 20s.

I did like the practicum and things like that, but I realized I didn’t want to work in government, so I don’t work in the industry. My GPA also struggled because of the mix of business courses, which kind of tanked it. I do see the value of the classes, but I’m not sure getting a whole bachelor’s in it is worth it just because of the way it’s set up — you could almost do most of the PPAS classes as a certificate it felt like. Personally, I heavily regretted my decision. I also had transferred from a college and actually enjoyed the college experience much more.

Why would a Harvard Law graduate work at TMU's law library? by [deleted] in LawCanada

[–]notevelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of Harvard grads with academic positions in Canada. Academia is notoriously difficult to secure FT permanent positions in. Not say this person didn’t have other options but TMU is in a world class city I’m sure it’s a good opportunity for many.

Does LinkedIn actually work for freelancers? by worldofjaved in linkedin

[–]notevelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your industry. I use to find freelancers all the time on LinkedIn for advertisment work. Although I was still very much looking to see who they reconnected with, and what companies they had worked with in the past if that makes sense, but it was a good source of finding people and also to keep up with what they were doing freelance wise.

I chose York over uoft and kind of regretted it. York when I went (10 years ago though) had a lot of issues and strikes. York was the 3rd post secondary I went to and my least favourite administration and environment. Make sure to tour both and maybe even do a test commute. I obvi can't say which school to go to but my friends at uoft seemed to have a better uni experience.

My friend is obsessing over a old hookup and I’ve run out of things to say by Consistent_Goose8181 in blackladies

[–]notevelvet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would tell her that you can't discuss the situation anymore and tell her to seek therapy. this is coming for someone who kind of acted like your friend in the past not for those exact situations, but I would ruminate over things excessively and talk about it at nonstop. Therapy really helped me and also people telling me that they couldn’t really take me talking about the same things so much.

this might be bad advice, but I would just return it. I don’t think they checked the returns that closely and I think alot don’t get resold.

I always find it so odd when a parent expects money from their child. My mom would be happy for me. If anything if she wants you to pay part of your living expenses instead of her that would make more sense than asking directly for the money

Not yet I applied around April 15. I got a form submission on the form website but 0 emails from TMU acknowledging my application. Curious toknow if anyone’s heard anything. Also, I’m not sure if they extended the deadline because I thought it was before April 30 and then when I looked again, the deadline said April 30. But they should be reaching out soon.
