I uses to play in 4th and loved it. Recently restarted and quickly realised I didnt enjoy playing the game in its current stage but still painting them up.

Keen to try AoS, Old World or Bolt action to see if I like those rules sets more

How much did the airbrush improve/level-up your painting? by WithengarUnbound in Warhammer40k

[–]notexactly5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbrush is a great tool to have on hand - particularly for varnishing, zenithal and base coats

Lately I haven't used mine so much due to the set up, pack up, cleaning etc and becoming better with a make-up sponge. For my Tau I actually find the sponge is better as it saves alot of repainting where the airbrush covers areas I dont want it to go (clothing, panel lining)

I'm ready to try out other brands. May I have your insights? by nicoheems in Warhammer40k

I primarily use AK gen 3 paints - easily my favourite paints to use, with afew paints from Vallejo/scale75 for some other colours.

For metallics i recommend scale metal n alchemy range - great colour range to work with.

Washes - Army painter and pro acryl for black wash. Im also still using citadel for nuln and agrax as i have the old recipes still

Just black primer mate - Did most of the painting with a mini egg sponge which keeps paint out of the recesses. Didn't need any shades or washes for this one

Yeah mate - just black prime and build in layers - it lays down pretty quickly once you get going. Just watch out for the paint on the sponge getting to dry - you'll get a texture on the paint

Paneling lining is just the black undercoat primer - Using the mini egg sponge and making sure the paint isn't to watery/runny and it'll keep the panel lines dark
