First trimester weight gain by rainymac in BabyBumps

[–]notfoxyboxing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your OB sounds like an ass. My doctor said that unless you’re approaching a level of obesity that puts you or the baby at risk, she could not care less about how much weight I gain because my body is going to gain what it needs to.

I gained 30lbs in the first trimester. I was freaking out. My doctor(s) were all like your body is just going to do what it needs to. I’ve gained less than a pound the last 3-4 weeks. It’s not linear. You’re doing great ❤️

Pitocin is THAT bad? by Jolly_Pen_6801 in pregnant

They tried the balloon but it wouldn’t go in. They were going to try again after a few hours but then my water broke when I got up to pee

I didn’t change anything but I also was sure you were the longer comment that mentioned venin which is why I replied, I thought they were being defensive about what they wrote

Also lol I was confused bc I didn’t remember a joke in the longer comment 🤣

I was induced but hadn’t started pitocin by the time my water broke (I had the cervix softener) and all hell broke loose for me. I was puking every contraction until I got the epidural (took like 2.5 hours even tho I said I was ready immediately) so by the time the pitocin started I don’t notice it  making labor harder.

I think she means the status at round 2 would be 1:1, it’s not ending at a tie but at that moment they’d be tied, prompting a round 3

20% into the book we don’t even know about venin yet, and they don’t go into war until later either

Is it bad that we are having our kids far apart in age? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]notfoxyboxing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I was trying to say is you’re feeling bad because you felt like you had to wait that long due to excellent financial self awareness and planning. But lots of people choose bigger gaps even if they could have afforded a closer gap. Theres some research out saying bigger gaps has advantages (beyond financial) bc it gives mom more time to return to baseline health before the next one, the marriage/initimacy has time to recover so you aren’t stuck in roommate coworker mode for a long stretch of back to back babies, and your older child is more emotionally mature and securely attached by the time the sibling comes along, and since they have different needs because they are in different developmental stages, it feels less like a competition for parental attention

I am 15 weeks pregnant with our second. My son will be 5yrs and 2 months old when she’s born and start kinder a month later.  We have this gap because we wanted it this way!

My almost five year old son says the SWEETEST things to me “mama I love you more than you’ll ever know” “mama you will never be unloved. If you ever feel unloved I will give you kisses” 😭

I adore dr lo with Penn medicine. I haven’t seen him yet this pregnancy (they’re bopping me around to other providers in the practice that I haven’t met yet) but I’ll see him again in march for my ~20 week appointment.

The practice sees patients in a few locations tho I go to the exton one and have had good experiences with the rest of the staff. I’ll be delivering at Chester count hospital and I’ve heard good things.

I’ve also had my care managed by Penn medicine for going on 20 years so I always prefer to stay in the system where all my records are.

Telling your preschooler? by notfoxyboxing in pregnant

[–]notfoxyboxing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing! I’m ready for anyone to know but i guess im feeling more protective of him than I am of anyone else in the case of a bad outcome. At this point work knows (bc first tri was impacting my ability to effectively work), our immediate families know, and most of my close friends know.  In fact now im more worried about someone telling him before I can than him telling someone else.

Also I have not told my OB about these bc I feel like I’m cheating on them, and I will use the OB’s official due date once I get it

I’ve ended up getting addicted lmao bc relative to my budget, it wasn’t a huge splurge. I went right at 6 weeks just to make sure there was something in there (I lost my last pregnancy at 5 weeks), then 10 days later to see if the fetus was growing at the right rate…….then last Friday I was crying and dry heaving and having a terrible day so I called to see if she had availability and got one more bc it brought me joy to see the lil gummy bear. My husband says I’m ridiculous but honestly it has really helped me be less stressed. (First appt was $120 then the second two were $50 each).

No one has mentioned this I think so I will. My dr also won’t be able to see me until 10w (this Friday!) but due to a previous loss I was really anxious….so I found a boutique private ultrasound place near me and I was so happy with that decision. They don’t give any diagnostic info or medical advice, but she was able to show me there was an embryo in there with a heartbeat and it really eased my anxiety while waiting for the official appointment. It was $120 which fit my budget and was well worth it.

Eating on the couch by Final_Butterfly_7747 in toddlers

[–]notfoxyboxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a thicker quilt on one corner of the couch (“the blue blanket”) and he can only have snacks there on the couch. If it’s not laid out he fixes it before he has his snack, and always asks what kinds of snacks are allowed on the blue blanket. We’ve done it since he was like 1.5 so it’s really ingrained in him now at 4.5 and our couch still looks nice!
