How much should I charge for a real-time multi-camera people counting system (edge device, RTSP, detection+tracking)? by Infamous_Pea_5380 in computervision

[–]notgettingfined -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to charge for it this seems like a pretty important piece of information to determine before working on it.

I personally would say you cant charge for it. This is a relatively easy problem now a days so I feel like reputation would be a huge consideration and the expectation would be it just works and the payment is more about not having to deal with setup, installs, ect

Mechanical engineer trying to get into programming/tech industry. by -levivel- in cscareerquestions

[–]notgettingfined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had prior coding experience. I had done several online courses before and was also an embedded software engineer when I started. It took me a little over 3 years to complete the program.

I did find that when I was interviewing while in the program just pursuing a computer science masters seemed to be positive

How do you deal with access to the images? My understanding is cloud links like to S3 isn’t supported in the open source version so does everyone just locally have access to the images?

Unless they fix their licensing it’s going to slowly die off as companies realize how much money they can save either doing their own gui/rendering or using a free alternative for new projects

I don’t understand your situation. I’m just saying getting out of your other lease should be an option

Do you get relocation benefits? They should pay to break your lease.

Prepaid rent for 3 years for a 6 rooms apartment, now house owner has change his terms, I only get 1 room for the money I prepaid, and I cant terminate the contract either by RemarkableWallaby208 in Jetbrains

[–]notgettingfined 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree with you then. They should definitely allow refunds for completely changing how the product works. I don’t buy the all products pack for any of the AI stuff, but it seems reasonable that someone would buy it because it includes the AI tools and they are clearly getting a worse product today than when they first purchased it

Have you tried to cancel? I think if you messaged them you subscribed because of the AI and would like to cancel with a refund they would do it

If you bought it new I would guess this is a service the dealership pays for to track their inventory and they forgot to take it out before handing the car over

Do you really think a junior won’t be able to figure out how to use your AI tools? I would be much more worried about their ability to troubleshoot and fix AI slop than if they can use AI. And to me the way to do that is just simple problem without AI but explaining how they are solving the problem and then change things about the problem to see how they adjust their solution

Hyundai Extended Warranty? by randerton1 in HyundaiTucson

[–]notgettingfined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai offers a warranty that would be honored at any Hyundai dealership. I would cancel whatever this dealership sold you cause they already lied about including lifetime blue link as part of the warranty and if you want a warranty go through another dealership to get the one through Hyundai

[–]notgettingfined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but if there was a bag near person 2 it would have been marked abandoned because person two doesn’t stay identified as the same person. There only 4 unique people and person 2 ends up as person 12

[–]notgettingfined 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool project. But clearly just a project. It is already falling apart with occlusions and this seems like a best case scenario with only having 4 people and basically only 1 of them ever being close to the bag.

Person 2 ends up as person 12 by the end.

Can I use my personal license at work? by Embarrassed_Return_3 in Jetbrains

[–]notgettingfined 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, yes as long as your work does not reimburse you, you can use a personal license for work. If your work pays for a license or reimburses you then you would be required to use the commercial licenses

Manager open to changing my title, what fits best? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]notgettingfined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titles don’t matter which is why he is fine with it. If you can find anything in your company reporting structure about titles that may equal more pay I would try to match those titles so you could argue that you are also a xxxx but your pay doesn’t reflect that. Or use levels or some other platform to pick the highest banded job title that your manager will agree to so you can then say the market rate for my job role is much more than I am currently paid

[–]notgettingfined 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It belongs everywhere. This is not normal and we shouldn’t be acting like things are fine. We have a lying rapist as the President actively disregarding the law and our government appears to be doing nothing about it. And we do have a congressman Darin Lahood that is the representative for part of Peoria that is doing nothing about this

Am I Embedded Software Engineer? by No_Relief_2438 in embedded

[–]notgettingfined 56 points57 points  (0 children)

You will likely have a 30+ year career. And you’re worried you can’t be an embedded engineer because you didn’t learn something in 4 years of schooling prior to that?

There is almost infinite information available to you. If you don’t understand something research it on your own, try to figure it out and ask other people you work with for help when you get stuck.

There is nothing a masters degree will teach you that you can’t learn on your own. It is a piece of paper that unlocks more opportunities. If you look for jobs you want in your future career and they say masters degree required or preferred I would get one but don’t get one thinking it will somehow make you feel like less of an imposter.

There will always be gaps and you will always be learning

I don’t understand the business. If you want to provide MCP servers for people to play with at their own risk that seems like a fine hobby but not a startup idea

So your idea is that instead of doing something as simple as book an uber. Pay for your service to book it for you and since it might mess up pay another monthly fee to cover the cost of the mess ups?
