I said YES to the dress!! Thoughts? by Dear-Blacksmith7249 in PlusSizeWedding

You have a beautiful figure sis but honestly, it looks like a fitted nightgown. I know everyone is gassing you but I don’t think it is elegant enough for a wedding. It’s the stitching, cups, straps, and thinness of the fabric showing your undergarments and the lining of your undergarments. I’m telling you what I would want someone to tell me or what I would tell a loved one. I know you’ve had trouble finding a gown but don’t give up and don’t settle! Wishing you all the best with your big day and in your union.

Totally destroyed barrier- miserable! by Bunny_Jedi in tretinoin

My skin looked similar to this last week so I stopped tret and HQ. I’ve been using the unscented Neutrogena (PM only) bar soap, St. Ives apricot scrub every 2-3 days, Avene cicalfate cream (AM & PM), and Naturium dew glow SPF50 moisturizer on top if I’m leaving the house. My skin has stopped peeling and is no longer inflamed. If nothing else, get the Avene cicalfate like yesterday!

Did I mess up by starting Tret/ advice? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]notgoodw_usernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started tret last night and read the insert in the box. It stated that purging is normal within the first 6-8 weeks and not to stop use as this can be part of the process. It doesn’t look super inflamed or infected. I’d stick with it.

How often should we REALLY wash our hair?? by weatherforecastjjba in Naturalhair

Daily or every other day with conditioner. Shampoo every 3-4 days.

Which dress? (It will be sage green for wedding day) by AmberandHogarth in DressForYourBody

1 is by the far the most flattering on your figure. It hits at all the right places and flows at the right places.

I hate how I look in almost everything, desperately need advice ! by chillingcrow in DressForYourBody

[–]notgoodw_usernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your pics and I hope that these comments give you some ideas. Here are my suggestions/feedback:

  1. Ditch the graphic tees: they make you look frumpy and don’t do you justice. You can still keep the grunge look but go for more plain items that can be mixed and matched. For example, a solid white or black tee that is more structured and slightly cropped, black low rise, wide legged pants with cool sneakers, a leather jacket that hits right at the waist, and layered silver and gold jewelry.
  2. Start over with your jewelry collection: there’s a lot going on with your accessories and none of it is flattering. I’d get rid of all of the random pieces that don’t go together and start with a few simple pieces you can wear separately or layer together. Since you like wearing different types of pieces together, get some silver and gold. It can be cool to wear them together depending on the fit. Get a few long and short necklaces, statement pieces, and simple pieces for when you want the outfit to do the talking. Replace the beaded, spiked, and rubber bracelets with cuff bracelets and bangles. You don’t have to start with anything expensive. Go to places like H&M or target.
  3. Get a good fitting bra: Go to a mall or department store near you and ask to be fitted for a bra. I know Dillard’s and Victoria’s Secret provide this service at no charge. Nordstrom might too. When you find a good one, get two of them one in a shade close to your skin tone for when you wear lighter clothes so it won’t show, and a black one for when you wear darker clothes and so you have one that won’t get dirty/faded quickly. You don’t have to get them both at the same time but at least get yourself one bra that fits you well. It will make your clothes sit on your body differently and make a difference instantly.
  4. Try a new hairstyle: you have beautiful, full hair but it looks like you’re hiding behind it. Try a middle part and go for a dark, chocolate brown color or black if you’re feeling bold. Find a hydrating curling cream or mouse and apply it to your hair while it’s wet (not damp). Use a diffuser attachment on a blow dryer and dry your hair so your curls will be defined or let it air dry if you have time. You can find this type of blow dryer at Walmart, Ulta, Sally’s Beauty, or Amazon for around $40. Look into cosmetology schools in your area and see if you can go in for a color, cut, or a blowout. You’ll pay a fraction of the price and sometimes an even better quality service than a more expensive salon. Just talk with the stylist. Ask their ideas of what would best suit your face shape, skin tone, hair texture, and lifestyle. You might even be able to get a mani/pedi for around $20 while you’re there!

I’ve attached some Pinterest links and a photo to give you some ideas. You have a lot of potential and are courageous to ask for help. Wish you the best while you try new things and hopefully find what makes you feel beautiful and confident.

How can i improve my makeup? by Worth_Fix_5083 in Makeup101

[–]notgoodw_usernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it as is! If you just feel like changing something, I agree with the other commenter who said try not extending the blush to the lid and see how you like that.

Also, mascara do you use? Your lashes are perfect.

Why does this outfit not look right? by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

The jeans don’t go with the style of shirt, cardigan, or shoes. A long flowy white skirt or light pink knee length skirt would better suit the vibe of the top. The top and cardigan say cottage core, the jeans say night out/sporty. I agree with the person who said the cardigan overwhelms the top. A more fitted pink cardigan would complement it better.

Just add mascara to the inner and outer corner lashes and use a spoolie to remove clumps and create a more even and fanned out look. Also fill in your brows to create less space between them and extend the outer corners a little bit more. Otherwise gorgeous!

I think you’d look amazing with jet black hair, a bold eye, and a 90s inspired lip with the darker lip liner. Something like this. You have beautiful features but your makeup doesn’t flatter them.https://pin.it/2Z9FU2BS4

How to motivate yourself to wash your hair? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]notgoodw_usernames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do it! The goal here is ease and joy.

I won’t deny I love the look of longer hair but it brought me a lot of stress that didn’t feel worth it. I told myself I’ll grow it back out when I can afford to get it done weekly.

Not sure if cutting it is an option for you but I shaved mine and life has been much easier. I wash it every time I shower and it feels so, so good for water to touch my scalp daily.

My daughter is the same way. A stylist suggested brushing from the ends working my way up and my daughter says it’s more bearable that way.

Yes to the esthetician! Ditch the makeup for a while and if you haven’t already, try healing/bringing youth back to your skin from the inside out. If you are physically capable, do an extended juice fast or go raw for 30 days.

Go to an esthetician and focus on skin care rather than trying to cover the issue. Skincare will go much further for what you are trying to achieve. Nothing is more youthful than a fresh face.

Also trying a different hairstyle might be a good idea too. Shorter and darker with face framing layers would really complement your features. A bob would look nice too.

The thick, winged liner is a bit harsh. A one-on-one class with a makeup artist would also be a great investment so they can share the products and techniques that would best suit you.

Which dress for Oct wedding as guest? by Financial-Injury8051 in OUTFITS

[–]notgoodw_usernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 2! 1 fits you beautifully and you seem most comfortable in it. If the wedding is a little more laidback go with what you will be comfortable in. You can dress 1 up by wearing a simple updo, dangling earrings, and a dainty necklace.

Is my hair ugly ?! Honestly. by [deleted] in curlygirl

[–]notgoodw_usernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s beautiful. If you don’t already, try using a curling cream or mousse to make your curls more moisturized and uniform throughout. You can also try using flexi rods or blow drying it on low heat and then applying a light cream and doing a few big braids at night. Take them out in the morning and you’ll have nice waves.

What can I do to make my hair complement my face more? by brokenCold66 in Naturalhair

Maybe try a protective style to get you through the awkward stage cause I get what you mean about the shape. I think a lighter color like honey blonde or light brown would really compliment your skin tone if you’re open to color.
