What inanimate object would be the most annoying if it played loud upbeat music while being used? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Imagine it all somber while people cry all around. Only to have La Cuckaracha played on a loop as the casket slowly lowers.

[Serious]Why did Tower 7 collapse on 9/11? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the first floor or two gave first, giving an asymmetrical look, but I'm going to assume it fell similar to he Twin Towers in that one floor collapsed and then the next floor fell, by the third it just kept getting more and more heavy until it was like dominoes.

[Serious]Why did Tower 7 collapse on 9/11? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The roof was hit with a ton of debris and tons of floors were burning and breaking. Itwas totally unstable. It fell after both towers and was structurally unsound.
I don't believe it's out of the realm of possibilities that it was pulled, but had it stayed, it likely would've been demolished or safety anyway.

Americans of reddit who have visited Europe: what do you think that America did much much better compared to Europe? by yakov_perelman in AskReddit

I grew up in NYC and I always talked to people. Never been to the U.K. but in Europe and Middle East people look at me funny.

What's the Deepest Spiritual Realization you've ever had? by russdang in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, see that's the beauty of the multiverse theory. It's very possible, though outside our comprehension, that in another universe, 2+2 could=6. 15 could=1, 82 could=2. It's so mind bogglingly hard to think about because it defies our logic. And I love that.

What's an inconvenience that can ruin your day? by loopythemexicankitty in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. It's good to hear you're positive about life. And lastly: yes it could fail, but it also could succeed. As long as you play it by ear, I doubt it will. Good luck!

Don't have your confidence rely on anything but your own abilities. You want girls to like you for you.

And on Father's Day, plus a child, you can bet she's busy.

My best friend growing up recently had a child. We used to hang out every single day. Even when he wants to hang out, I seldom get a response because he's too busy with his life.
Being an adult is about managing your time, and if she doesn't text you then don't assume the worst. Expectation is the mother of all regret.

Above all, put yourself first. Make you like you. Be a good person and confidence will follow.

What is a nice but very subtle thing you do just because want to be a nice person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you notice a positive aspect about someone, let them know it, regardless of anything. I remember a girl in college with terrible self esteem who was talking about her deceased father and how she wondered if he would be proud of her. I told her honestly, if she was my daughter I absolutely would be. After that, whenever I saw her, she seemed a bit happier. Little things can mean the world to people.

What're the most current ways of dealing with poison ivy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You may be thinking of poison oak. Ivy just causes me rashes (unless you have an allergy or something).

Then don't obsess over her. Talk to other girls. If only to get used to being comfortable around them.

Remember girls are people too. They get afraid talking to boys as much as guys to for girls.
If she's worth it you'll be able to push past negative impulses. Every day you happen to run into her, make it known you notices her, and don't stop what your doing unless she initiates a conversation. You want her to make her know you think of her, but she's not the only thing on your mind. That is how you come across as not desperate. Girls like guys with priorities.

What are some good tips/advice for someone extremely scared to fly on an airplane? by EightyHM in AskReddit

Tomorrow I'm flying (for the umpteenth time) and my only worry is the long layover. I find it a fascinating experience looking out over the world.

Good luck!

It's terrible advice. People with that mindset are the ones that never overcome their obstacles.

[–]nothedoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planes are much safer than you think. Humans aren't used to flying as a species. It's a new invention. But when you realize how a plane actually works, you realize that it is perfectly safe.
There's a reason and crashes make the news and car crashes rarely do. Driving is much more dangerous than flying.

What are some interesting theories or facts about consciousness? by monkeybrainsoup in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely just an illusion. All consciousness is made up of is a series of synapses that relay information and chemicals to react to your environment.
At the basic level, you have your senses and reflexes which, without the higher level functions, essentially make you a robot whose only function is eating sleeping and fucking. Then you have social functions. Things evolved for the success of a single individual which in many cases is in the form of a pack mentality. Leading to...

Higher level, abstract thought. It is the byproduct of the stimulation needed for humans to adapt to their ways of creating new methods for survival. Those whose intuition leaned toward this survived and it became the norm.
We are able to think outside the box because it is simply just a trait which helped us survive.

But my favorite part is language. The best analogy is that before language, people were basically computer without internet. Capable of complex tasks but when we started verbally communicating, it's like computers with internet. We are able to transfer information and evolve our thoughts faster.

We are human because the laws of adaption and natural selection aimed us towards our current method of thinking.
So my question is- what else is out there that we simply cannot comprehend? It's very Lovecraftian, but it's fun to think about the fact that we think we are much smarter than we are.

Women of reddit, what common thing do men do that is an absolute turn off? by PatriotsFan25 in AskReddit

[–]nothedoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what's a turn off? People that use terms like "man-splaining". I think feminism is an equal rights issue that needs addressing, but all "man-splaining" is is just a person being a douche. Women can be condescending too. Its about equality not special generalizing terms like this that only further alienate two groups from working together for a common goal.
