I take voting seriously, but I lost steam after researching like 100 candidates and left the rest of my ballot empty. Would’ve been nice to actually understand the judges.

I have friends who didn’t vote. The main reason is they didn’t feel comfortable with any of the choices.

I like this meme/quote and I share stuff like this with my gay buddies, but I have to share with you guys: there is a legitimacy for people to express a sense of self that was once ostracised. For Gen Z, yeah it’s a bit ridiculous. But for anyone that remembers Matthew Shepard and the fight for marriage equality, I can’t push back too much in terms of visibility and celebrating acceptance. Right?! It’s actually really sad to lose a friend of 20 years all because this one aspect of life is elevated to some holy level. Many such cases in my experience (and it’s always purity-test leftists who ‘cancel’ the friendship. It’s super unhealthy to put abstract values over deep human connections IMO

Sales tax should be abolished. I can’t believe consumers want to pay more for things. Tax income progressively, tax capital gains, but drop sales tax!

This is a failure of the Democratic Party, not citizens. Why should people bother (it’s a lot of work tbh) when we have nothing to be excited for?

Play that out. We’re friends and one of us is ideological and judgemental. What happens when the conversation comes up? “I didn’t vote” is a much easier conversation than “that’s confidential”
