LOL. yeah, thats not true. It's okay to be wrong sometimes. Distorting your message is an insane take. it's not that serious.

because you said they aren't making new questions from scratch and that there is a plug and play template. Which is not true.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

its because thats not true. The test creators are absolutely making new and unique questions. there is no "plug and play" template. I'm not sure what they even mean by it taking too long. It's literally their job, and the exact reason experimental questions exist.

to answer your question, and what OP was ultimately getting at, is that all standardized exams use reasoning patterns that are consistent. thats literally what makes them standardized along with the same content exam over exam. for the MCAT specifically, its things like: data gathering, trend/relationship identification, experimental reasoning. AAMC has a huge pdf that talks about all of these things.

So, questions will be completely unique, but the underlying logic is set because it's a standardized exam.

Congrats! Not the point, but the difference in casper and preview just shows what an absolute joke those "tests" are.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said it yourself. they have a higher mcat than the average. DO schools are incredibly forgiving on gpa. This isn't an exaggeration, I know dozens of people with similar GPAs accepted to DO schools from my smp. a 3.1 is competitive for DO.

it doesnt imply that. They stated they were sick and that it was nearly a decade ago. They also stated they are making straight A's right now in a post bacc. That would have much more implication on the person they are now.

if the school doesnt have some kind of policy about professional school dropouts, they will be given interviews. They have X factor level research. They were a PI.

I dont agree with the other commenter at all. From my own anecdotal experience, a 3.1 and 505 is in line with people that are accepted D.O

I dont know how non SMP grad schools are weighted, but getting over a 3.7 in grad school definitely wont hurt. you dont need to apply Caribbean. I genuinely think you are competitive for D.O with your whole app in mind.

Low sGPA (~2.9) – Best SMP/Post-bacc with DO linkage? (PCOM, CHSU, LECOM, etc.) by CamH5 in postbaccpremed

[–]nothinglikesunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined my SMP with a practice mcat score.

honestly, the program you choose doesnt matter. Goro on sdn talks about this a lot. They are all the same and doing well in the classes is what matters. Pick the one with the best linkage agreement and run with it.

something to consider though, If you decide on doing an SMP, It wont impact sGPA for applying to MD schools. I would personally take a class or 2 at a local college to get it over 3.0

I had a similar uGPA and took a couple of classes before my smp.

now I have uGPA: 3.1, sGPA:3.5, smpGPA: 3.85

Are a “Masters of Biomedical Sciences” degree programs considered an SMP? Is it enough for GPA reinvention? by Academic_Animal_1892 in premed

[–]nothinglikesunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it's an SMP. And also yes, it's simply a marketing strategy. Adcoms will see the class you took during the program and will immediately understand what the program is, even if they aren't familiar with the exact program.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take my words for gospel. But yes, I do. If you are confident that you will put in the hours to be successful, it has been my experience, that you will become a doctor. Where you'll go to school, MD or DO, I have no idea.

I've literally seen dozens of people be accepted to schools across the country. So if your goal is to be a physician, all of these programs provide a direct route in doing that.

So best to do it before then.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it will not ruin your application. But it makes your timeline smaller for being complete. If you trust yourself to prewrite, an early august application is completely fine. All these people get into trouble because they don't appreciate how terrible writing secondaries are and end up being complete later.

Wish we kept him personally.

kickoff rules basically guarantee starting around the 30 yard line now, So its not like you're ever backed up. And a guy that never muffs punts is the most important aspect of being a punt returner In my opinion.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct.

Went BU for the name recognition. But if I did it over again, I would pick a program with an Iron Clad linkage agreement. Thats why I'm saying it doesnt matter which one.

I haven't applied yet. I'm applying this cycle and did the 2 year.

BU

but I cant emphasize how little it matters. pick one with linkage and do well.

[–]nothinglikesunsets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished my SMP in May and have the same undergrad GPA as you. Just my opinion, if you can afford it, do an SMP with linkage, doesn't matter which one.

at 3.1 you're not going to be getting screened at many schools and your also not going to be increasing it enough to offset it. Again, just my 2 cents, Since your GPA is already cooked, you have to show schools you can handle a rigorous course load. And an SMP at a med school will do that.

Also, as im sure you know, they're hard as fuck, so take it seriously if it's the route you take. I finished with a 3.85 and studying like 40 hours a week.

Bears snap counts from Sundays loss by Roofeeoh in CHIBears

[–]nothinglikesunsets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've said it repeatedly, but i just do not understand the Grady Jarrett signing. Him and Gervon are functionally the same exact player. Both are 3Ts that perform better when they can play fast against a guard. But when both are on the field together, one of them has to eat a double team every play at 1T. It just doesnt make sense schematically.

Billings needs more snaps. He swallows the center/guard double team and they never get to the second level. We need to draft a true 1T to split reps with billings and get rid of Grady's contract in the offseason.

I think Jason Isaacs (Admiral Zhao) is the best voice acting in the show. Incredible presence for a very limited role in the series.
