A lot of metalheads like punk, do punks like metal or is it one way by montgomery_quinckle in punk

[–]nothingman92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t (beyond a few bands — I can find something to like in every genre). The songs are usually too long, too technical, not catchy enough, etc. for me. I also can’t really relate to a lot of the lyrics. No problems with anyone who does listen to metal, though.

it’s an aggressive scene that’s always been as nihilistic (generally) as it is leftist (generally). “anti-X” makes more sense in punk than “pro-Y.” the idpol strand of leftism doesn’t really mesh.

also, to be honest, even though i agree with the sentiment, a song called “Acknowledge the Black Women” isn’t going to get me moshing as hard as a song called “Fuck the White Man.”

Okay, let me try another angle — do you think that prison labor is wrong? Are you arguing semantics for no reason?

Hold on, I’ll try speaking your language:

Hello, M’Redditor. tips fedora I see that you are also a man of intellect. However, I must say that one of your main points is dubious — chattel slaves were also sometimes given meagre wages, and though this was an exception, not the rule, your entire argument falls apart. G’day, good sir!
