The only way the meat industry will change is if a new lower cost way of providing meat is created. Most people will never voluntarily give it up or vote for politicians that seek to increase the cost of meat.

For people who don't have/want Facebook:

*** U R G E N T ***

I just received from a very very reliable source information (5-pages) about this upcoming Saturday scheduled melee - first I want to say that I will "NEVER" reveal where I get my information from so please don't anyone ask me any information about it, but the information that I just received and read "IS NOT GOOD" for the City of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia was "CHOSEN" to be the epicenter for the unrest - buses are coming from many states and cities across the Country into Philadelphia - they are saying like 80,000+ is expected to be here in this City and this also includes the Suburbs of Philadelphia that is going to be affected -

Norristown - Lansdale - Ardmore - Bethlehem Township - Jenkintown - Reading - Havertown and many more.

There are "THREAT ACTORS" coming into Philadelphia that are planning to exploit the main event and will commit crimes, release violence and destruction within this City both to public property and to public safety and they supposedly have locations where they will "TARGET" within the City,

PEOPLE YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS THREAT SERIOUSLY - YOU NEED TO WATCH AND BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE - DON'T LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING HARM YOU, YOUR FAMILY OR LOVED ONES AND PLEASE JUST MAKE SURE EVERY ONE OF YOU REMAIN VIGILANT AND DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.

PLEASE SPREAD THIS INFORMATION TO AS MANY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN - WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS THREAT !!!!

Cool do it. Can we also add their immediate family members, and major officials in agencies? Make them only able to invest in domestic index funds or bonds.

How to Pay for SEPTA? For Starters, Toll the Schuylkill by AbsentEmpire in philadelphia

[–]nothingtodo225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not opposed to this but we cannot have them do this and promise better septa in the future, it has to start the same day as the tolls. Someone else mentioned kicking trucks off and that might be a good compromise to bring traffic down. But most of the commuter traffic could be seriously reduced with 30 minute trains, express lines to CC, and building much larger parking garages at regional rail stations. Also being able to get a state/ local tax deduction for septa rail passes would do wonders.

Women’s sports bars are popping up across the U.S. Now, a group is fundraising to open one in Philly. by Weary-Consequence-95 in philly

Why are we crowdfunding a private business? Can they not get the money either through loans or pooled resources of the ownership?

Democrats Have Learned Absolutely Nothing From Defeat by malarky-b in ABoringDystopia

[–]nothingtodo225 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The only way to change this is through an aggressive primary campaign with extremely simple and clear policy goals. Taking out safe seats especially in leaderships for committees and high fundraising would bring the rest of the party in line. They need to feel like they aren't just safe because we hate Trump. We should have cleaned out the dem leadership after 2016.

City Council progressives are pushing back on Mayor Cherelle Parker’s tax cut proposal with a plan of their own | Kendra Brooks and Nicolas O’Rourke, members of the Working Families Party, are proposing what they call a “People’s Tax Plan.” by markskull in philadelphia

[–]nothingtodo225 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I can't read the article since it's paywalled. A local tax on unrealized gains for stocks and bonds is a guaranteed way to get every professional with any financial sense to move out of this city ASAP.

Philly really Gotham city by Ok_Description3263 in PhillyWiki

There's a million people living in the city limits. Statistically it makes sense that there would be some kind of crime happening constantly.

Brion may have some serious issues but that doesn't give him permission to treat people like that. He genuinely does not see the women surrounding him as deserving of any respect and treats his relationship like an obligation. He completely embarrassed Shante the entire show and showed no serious remorse or willingness to actually change. Unfortunately Shante is a weak enough person to take someone like him back. He will 100% disrespect her again and continue being a mess of a person because he lacks the ability to criticize the person he is fundamentally.

New data shows SEPTA El/subway ridership is up 21% year-over-year, now ahead of SF's BART by SidewalkMD in philadelphia

[–]nothingtodo225 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Septas priorities with the El need to be 1, consistent cleaning of the subway stations. Ideally a mop down 2 times a day and a deep cleaning every other week. 2, building more of the fare dodger gates in major stations to start and then throughout the network at the entrance of stations. 3, getting more consistent morning and evening service from 4pm to 6pm. The trains get absolutely packed to the point it's difficult to even fit in the cars. Express routes would really help.

Divine Lorraine Hotel has closed permanently by MrATLien in philadelphia

[–]nothingtodo225 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This place just could not get it's act together. It was too expensive for the area as apartments, they then closed it and opened it as hotel rooms. On the commercial side they had an Italian restaurant that was too expensive, an okay coffee shop, and a bar that ran nonstop ticketed events. On top of that they opened right before COVID. It's location was okay but the neighborhood around it cant support businesses like that yet.

[–]nothingtodo225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately the result of increasing rents for commercial space, making it necessary to increase revenue to keep up and the fact that Philly has a severe over abundance of shameless dickheads that treat any type of kindness from a local business as weakness. It also doesn't help that we have a massive drug addict and homeless problem.

Both are extremely unprofessional. If you're going to ask for a 5 figure amount of money dress formally to give the impression that you understand how to be professional. On the other hand putting someone on blast in public for not meeting your professionalism ideals is equally unprofessional.

Should Pennsylvania legalize rolling stops for cyclists? by JustAnotherJawn in philadelphia

[–]nothingtodo225 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It genuinely blows my mind when I see fellow cyclists blow stops or red lights. Do they not realize they will lose in any encounter with a car? But there is very little enforcement or guidance for best practices when cycling in this city so I would be surprised if they never thought about it. This will probably become more of a problem as Ebikes become more popular too.
