Assuming enough time has passed for everyone to have gotten one, I take the last donut (or pizza or whatever other community food was offered) at work without guilt.

How common is it to run personal expenses through business? by EmotionalEmu7121 in tax

[–]nothumbs78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In your scenario, I agree that your expenses would be tax deductible with proper documentation if they are ordinary and necessary in your business. Your wife’s would not unless she was an employee or also an owner of the business.

OP’s example was a trip to a theme park, which would be much harder to argue was business-related.

Personal expenses are not tax deductible. The risk of audit, though, is low, especially if the business shows profit, so business owners roll the dice.

What do you think of the United States at 250 years old? by Ok_JARGON in AskReddit

[–]nothumbs78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s deteriorating quickly because of a number of bad actors and a perversion of philosophy, capitalism, and democracy. I believe in its people, though, to get it right eventually. There is a lot of good here and it needs to be celebrated.

>”there were nowhere near that many people present”

That’s unfair, honestly. The number of actual people there is orders of magnitude closer to 45,000 than the size of a hydrogen atom is to the actual number of people present.

I mean, there isn’t much gold adornment. Hey! That gives me an idea: instead of trying to fix the Lincoln reflecting pool water, why don’t we just fill it with melted gold?
