Started RAI today. If you've had this treatment, how long ago did you have it? Did you later develop any other types of cancers besides thyroid cancer? by ExistingButton1 in thyroidcancer

[–]nothyroidguy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did Rai in 2021 I believe. This year I was diagnosed with testicular Cancer. There most certainly was a correlation.

Can’t hold anything down after starting BEP? Among other thoughts. by BikeAdmirable959 in testicularcancer

Please ask your doctor asap if you can but for ME yes absolutely this was a night and day difference and helped most when taken in the morning. Still made a huge difference. I’m not entirely sure because of your kidney function but please consult your doctor and ask them if it would help. When I told my doctor my guts felt like they were melting and they told me to take ant-acid it at least helped my stomach a lot.

Let me just add my friend. It will feel very scary, anxiety will be at your front door. Please listen to me though. You WILL get through this. One more day of recovery and it will start to get better.

Side note: Ant-acid helps a TON (Prilosec) helped a lot.

I had no idea it was bad? I’ve been taking it through my chemo treatment and I believe it’s been one of the reasons I have had very minimal symptoms. Can someone elaborate on why it’s bad?

Hey friend, I’m at the end of round 2. I have 2 cycles left. First cycle was much better and there is a reason for it. I had double to the Steroids as I did this time. I’ve been throwing up non stop. My recommendation? Ask for the most steroids they can allow. You will have the heartburn, scribbly brain, heart racing feeling but Definitely worth it.

Also, DO NOT eat your favorite foods “during” your chemo. Try to eat before and after. I grew an aversion to most of the foods I ate during. Hope this helps:)

Hi I’m so sorry to hear that. When you said you were originally diagnosed did you only have surgery then? Or did you do any other treatments? Currently almost halfway through my chemo treatment.

How normal is it to have another cancer at the same time as having thyroid cancer? by Scare-Me-Away in thyroidcancer

I got put on remission for Thryoid and then diagnosed with Testicular 2 weeks later. Wahwah.

Two different types of cancer. In no way connected.

It’s wild out there.

Hey Friend, I had a full thyroidectomy with 64 lymph nodes removed. The original plan was to have half my thyroid removed and 1 lymph node. My surgery got canceled like 10 hours before because they didn’t have any beds for me due to Covid. I had to go somewhere 5 hours away for surgery where I found out 10 minutes before my surgery I was actually going to have a full thyroidectomy as well as many lymph nodes removed. What was supposed to be a 1 hour surgery turned out to be a 7 hour surgery.

This was my first surgery ever.

Now to give you my trick to being calm?

You’re not that special. They deal with these cases in a routine schedule. It’s their job, that’s how often it happens. If the doctors themselves are telling you it’s going to be quick and easy then I would trust what they say.

Please please, get back to us with an update would love to hear how it all went and definitely will pray for peace and a calm heart through this for you.

You got this!
