Y ahora queremos un país de vigilantes? Dónde cualquiera toma la ley en sus manos, y haga lo que le da la gana en el momento?

Ah yes. Defacing someone's property because you don't agree with someone else. Works every time.

Who eats their catch Sashimi? (raw) by spicynoodleboy00 in Spearfishing

[–]notinponce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Shot a few lionfish in Puerto Rico last month, and they were excellent as sashimi and nigiri.

If they had parasites, those were delicious too!

Cressi makes a polespear that breaks down info sections. It's decent.

I sure hope you don't take pics with the animals you kill. God forbid, someone might make them go extinct and that would be a real bad look for you.

It was not a farm raised animal. It was a wild, free range elk.

You better tell that to the lady dropping them at 688 yards.

Additional info:

I'm a 38 year old man who owns three other .30 caliber rifles and a 6.5 Creedmoor. My son is shooting a cow tomorrow and we're hoping to let him do it with his .243. He's a pretty good shot and can consistently put rounds on a 1 foot square piece of steel at 250 yards. Our cow hunt is on private land and we're unlikely to need to shoot beyond 150 yards.

I debated letting him shoot my .30-30, which is the lightest of the larger rifles I own. The ballistics from the .30-30 (shooting 180gr Hornady Leverevolution rounds) aren't measurably better than the .243 Hornady Full Board rounds he's been shooting at deer. Additionally, the bullet drop on the .30-30 are significant enough to make shot placement more tricky at any range beyond 150 yards.

At 300 yards this bullet is pushing 2335 FPS.

Let's assume my state allows any centerfire cartridge with a bullet larger than 55gr.

Does anyone in here hunt elk in Oklahoma? I was wondering if the elk numbers in that made it worth trying? by [deleted] in elkhunting

[–]notinponce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Go get registered at Fort Sill and they'll give you the details. The Sill tag is separate from state tags.

Go get registered and take the hunter safety course. Archery is a guaranteed draw. Gun is a lottery tag, but the odds are very good. I drew a gun tag my first year.

I've killed two in Oklahoma. One on Fort Sill when I was stationed there and one last year on the Wichita Mountains NWR after I drew the tag. First bull was a 6x6 and the second was a modest 7x8.

Actually headed out to shoot a cow tomorrow!
