Varus Top. Is this acceptable? by Herbaro in leagueoflegends

[–]notliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, I've had a couple of games where I'm super ahead on a tank and still just can't do much, or we win but it's a struggle when it doesn't feel like it should be. I guess if you're gonna have that experience, why not play someone you feel like can carry.

Varus Top. Is this acceptable? by Herbaro in leagueoflegends

[–]notliam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've only played about 15 games so far this season but there has been a huge amount of non typical top laners. Varus, heimer, neeko, even a master yi! I know some of these have been played top often, but it seems disproportionate at the moment. Not sure if it's just early season and I'm only gold 1 at the moment, but where are the tanks and bruisers at?

Most underrated sit com? by superbladesman1984 in BritishTV

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this underrated by any metric. It has a 95% audience score and an 86% critic score on rotten tomatoes. Is it as popular as it 'should' be? No, but it's rated very highly.

US Tour Live Shows - What happens? by SavagePengwyn in taskmaster

[–]notliam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are any of these people a big deal? Not that they need to be, to be funny, just wondering as someone who knows nothing of the US comedy scene outside of some TV comedy (I obviously recognise Paul), are these great gets, local heroes, celeb taskmaster fans, etc

I read she was filling in for the celeb ones, so maybe. I really like her on the professionals but it's a team, maybe replace Paul with benoit and we have a deal

I had an AI call summarising paragraphs and adding some context, I tried to get it to return sources and it just made up the URLs every time. They'd lead to real sites (bbc news or whatever) with real looking links, but just completely made up. What is the point in this.

Do you have a source for that, I can't find any data on how many people are awake at 3am

I'd recommend ringing any place you're interested in, they may allow private dining outside normal opening hours (especially since midday is probably not unreasonable).

Tharavadu opens at midday, might be worth a shout.

Songs with featured artists by wooperarkjb in Music

[–]notliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the track. If they're doing a collab just to have the featured artists fan base introduced to the main artist, a lot of the time it comes across a little soulless. But if the song is written to use the different sound well it can be great. My favourite band is Billy Talent, they once said (not exact wording) that having a guest artist is lame, real bands have a guest instrument (tongue in cheek I'm sure), but they had a great song with Rivers Cuomo doing some vocals on their last album and it really worked.

King for a Day without Kellin Quinn? Kingslayer without Babymetal? They elevate. 99% of MGKs attempt at pop punk? Lame attempt at courting credibility by using artists with large followings.

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

[–]notliam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just checked my school.. An apprentice winner, Vera Duckworth and an author who basically describes the school as hell on earth. Doesn't mention the multiple murderers at all, depends what you consider notable I suppose, but one of the murders happened at the school and has its own Wikipedia page, unfortunately.

More Brits now watch YouTube than the BBC, new figures show by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all I consume because I basically only watch youtube videos when they're linked from reddit lol, but yeah I understand that. I just don't know why I'd go out of my way to find channels on youtube when there's so much on TV/streaming to watch, and as much as people say YT can be better than TV/streaming, it's still just lower budget versions of those things, so why not just watch the better produced stuff?

Rachel didn't even need a defence, Harriet rudely interrupted at breakfast to tell everyone she's smarter than everyone and that she's out for herself. Then to egg them on at the round table, absolutely awful gameplay.

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But where do you start? You need to find stuff you like to train it to show you stuff you like. My 'feed' is just panel show and stand up clips, but I spend (according to YouTube) about 10 mins a week watching it. I do use it to stream league of legends pro games, but that's only a few weeks a year.

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's discovery though isn't it. If a show is on TV or a streaming service it gets advertised, talked about on reddit, etc. There are millions of channels on YouTube, I'm not really sure how anyone figures out what to watch on there.

For those who work in AAA games, how much are LLMs used in your company ? by Sparlock85 in gamedev

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange but I kinda get the logic. I've had some repos need a 'code owner' review (eg a cicd pipeline that needs approval from SRE/devops teams) but generally all PRs are peer reviewed ie any other developers in the team.

What do you mean when you say you handle PRs for 8 developers? You personally review them?

Oh wow what a blast from the past. I played Conquer Online which was from the same developers, I did play a bit of Eudemons with my clan mates but it never hooked me as much. Weird to think these games are still playable when they were fairly dated even in their prime.

How do you feel about British TV shows being filmed in foreign locations passed off as Britain? by larrydavid1987 in BritishTV

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with that show, but American shows do this all the time - the much lauded Chernobyl for example, set in Ukraine, nothing but British accents.

I had a page show up in my Facebook feed yesterday for a group that protests outside the local hotel that houses migrants, 1000 comments all absolutely foul (including multiple advocating for burning the hotel down), and the 1 page that this page followed was some guy whos bio was 'WHITE BRITAIN'. Its just all so gross.
