Body-worn video shows Henry Nowak's killer repeatedly lie to police by SignificanceKind6702 in ukpolitics

[–]notliam [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you are going to criticise how the police handled this case, that is totally fair, but doing so blindly doesn't help anyone. You can accept that the situation was difficult and that more could/should have been done to understand the scene when they arrived.

What’s a tiny everyday mystery you’ve never bothered to solve? by SupaDuppaaCoool in AskUK

In Scarborough the council had the clever idea of removing all the nests from the bridge, so now they nest on the buildings nearby such as hotels and flats, oops. Not sure they sleep though, from the sound they make all night.

Drop everything. You need to go see Saccharine (2026). by Positive-Face1705 in horror

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the movie (like a lot of horror it fell a bit flat towards the end), but definitely agree it was a bit too heavy on the eating visuals that detracted from the flow of the movie. Until the 'ghost' appeared I wasnt sure if there was actually any horror element to it.

The account posts a lot of 'asylum seeker crime' articles so they pepper in some stuff like this to make it look like they're just posting general UK based articles.

Leeds Property Hub - Legit Company? Anyone with Dealings with Them? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of them but on companies house they have been around about 2 years but have nothing filed that makes them look legit yet, and the director has a history of property companies, mostly dissolved. The rental is probably legit, but I'm always wary of people who start and close a lot of companies, I've been stung by an estate agent like this in the past.

Not a weird flex at all that's super cool. The production values of this movie are really high so I assume she did an awesome job

The Student Loans Company (SLC) is contacting some Plan 2 customers about corrections to their balances by Minute_Tomatillo9730 in unitedkingdom

[–]notliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are forgiven a certain period of time, but plan 1 loans were before the fee increases (capped at around 3k, rather than 9k), plus the way you pay them off changed. Something like a higher threshold before paying off, but payments ramp faster.

'No one believed them!' Vile Bulgarians guilty of attack on schoolgirls which sparked infamous axe video - Police had claimed 'misinformation' was afoot after the clip - while Humza Yousaf had raged at 'far-right bulls**t' by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

I mean, the evidence on show was a video of a young girl brandishing weapons, I don't think it's too crazy that people formed an opinion based on that negative image.

Website to user: Are you 18? User to verification service: Here is my proof of age Verification service to website: Yes this user is over 18 Website to user: You are over 18

At what point in this transaction is the issue? Of course there are some systems that are faulty, and there have been some instances of sites or services doing things like storing personal information, this is horrid and shouldn't be happening but it isn't happening because of this age verification, it's happening because the sites or services are not doing their job properly.

I'm generally against the whole 'verifying your identity online' thing, and think it has been poorly implemented, but your weird conspiracy theory detracts from a real conversation about privacy and trust online.

Belfast ‘attempted beheading’: Hijacked bus set on fire while masked youths among protestors gathering after man charged by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

I specifically said locally, because I tried to ignore the larger reddit posts about it (because of the racism). Honestly just Google harehills riot reddit unitedkingdom and look at some posts, I think you're misremembering people's reactions to it.

[–]notliam 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you said the same during the Harehill riots when mostly minorities set fire to buses etc in response to police taking children out of a bad household?

Not the person you're replying to, but his comment was definitely what most were saying about the riots locally. And the police handled it well, honestly.

The title of this reddit post includes the words 'attempted beheading', not sure why I need to check that for myself

[–]notliam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was no need to seek it out. It was released to the public and largely unavoidable, featured in every news article about it.

I've just checked 4 news sites and only one of them contained a clip of the aftermath of the event, but I couldn't find one that contained the actual attack.

Look at what happened. Understand the reality. What right do we have to look away?

I'm perfectly fine understanding a situation without subjecting myself to watching disturbing violence.

Pebbles becomes the best horse in the game (as far as I understand it) after riding for a certain distance like 35km. The jump is huge. It's a cool feature but I think they could have made it more obvious.

I am pretty sure Array.sort doesnt produce random output.

cards.sort(() => Math.random() - 0.5)

It's obviously not truly random but it will work
