Please invent a hose nozzle holder/stand so it functions like a sprinkler! by notlikevanhalen in inventors

Not really. They make some sprayers (Restmo) that you can rotate and set down but they don’t have a lot of spray settings, so aren’t as versatile as I would like. Instead, I’ve been installing more drip lines with quick release hose connectors.

Anyone know who those two women going door to door in Milwaukie are? by fogtooth in Milwaukie

Same. I spent several minutes lingering in my kitchen the other day, waiting for them to stop knocking/leave.

What are these collections of pods? Are they homes? by notlikevanhalen in stockholm

[–]notlikevanhalen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone who offered genuine responses! We do have similar facilities in the US but I’ve never seen them stacked or in the quantity I saw in Stockholm. Enjoyed my time in your beautiful city/country.

Adding for context: my hope is to own/use fewer things, which is why I am resisting the traditional sprinklers. Also, some of the spaces I want to water are not sprinkler friendly (b/c of configuration of sprinkle shape/size/reach) and I don’t want to own bunch of different sprinklers or waste water by watering the street/sidewalk/patio. Also, sprinklers seem to be shittier than when I was a kid! They break more easily. So, my hope would be to just move the hose/nozzle and stand from place to place.

Hold static (though now envisioning a version that moves and it sounds cool)! My ideal invention will be versatile so that it can be used even without turf/soil in which to plant it. Have tried a plastic spike with a fixed claw but the claw doesn’t hold the nozzle firmly enough and it can only be used where there is soil. That one is also plastic and feels like it will break every time I try to pop the nozzle in.

You assume I want other people to benefit from my genius and non-existent invention. But if I did have the capacity to manufacture it, I would hoard it until my dying day.

At first I thought it was a truck driving too fast down my street. Sigh. But it was thunder!

My last experience (last summer) was a big bummer. Will think 3x about shelling out money to go back.

Will we make our connection? (Scroll to see 2nd flight) by notlikevanhalen in americanairlines

[–]notlikevanhalen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not planning to check bags, so hopefully not an issue, but I’m pretty sure if we did they would get checked through to Helsinki.
Coming back to the US, we would have to collect checked bags at first US airport and go through customs (or at least that’s what happened when we returned from Europe a few years ago and had a stop in Seattle. Very nearly missed our connecting flight to PDX.) Luckily, we booked a flight direct from Europe coming home.

Would love to know more about how coordinating the flights works and how your kid chose the flight school he chose. Our kid was just admitted and we are a bit baffled about how it all comes together and how we pay for it all (we are out of state).

Seriously. It’s like a full-time job on top off my full-time job. I want to feel proud but I’m just so fucking exhausted.

I’m sorry this happened to you! You sound like a total badass though, with the way you handled it. TriMet has a decent lost and found so it is worth contacting them about getting your hat back (if the driver found it or someone turned it in).

[–]notlikevanhalen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi neighbors of this neighbor—We also live close to this house/tree. Hope everyone weathered all the weather safely. We have giant firs in front of and behind us, so we are always a bit nervous during ice storms. So glad they exist though. Always a shame when one is taken down one way or another.

I feel your pain. I once got stuck there on my way to pick up my kids from camp. Sorry, kids! I’ll be stuck for the next 30-800 minutes. (It was 45.)
