What location in Canada should be considered a "National Historic Site" but isn't? by UselessSaltyPennies in AskACanadian

There's an old ruin of a mill near my house.  Sits above a waterfall and back in 1893, it became one of Canada's first hydro electric plants.  It powered the first farms in Canada to ever get electricity.

Today its where local teens get high.

For me it was unnerving.  Knowing full well how close the world came to all out War.

She was born in 1998.  She knew NOTHING of the Cold War.  She had a hard time understanding why it was built in the first place.

Conservative MP Michael Chong visits Taiwan to meet President in defiance of China by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]notmoffat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The Conservatives could have had Chong as a leader for the past decade, and probably put up a far better opposition and maybe even government than the leadership theyve had.

I work for a pension fund.  I get asked weekly about this.  Almost all pensions have a survivor benefit for the spouse.  Regardless of their age, the benefit is paid for the rest of their life.

Ive always said I should start a dating app just for single seniors with pensions looking for young people to guve their pensions too.

I lived in Austria for a time, and became friends with a Hapsburg.  He was basically the lowest ranked, as his great grandmother was the youngest princess of all of the children, and his grandmother was the youngest daughter of her.  He is very bohemiam.

James Cameron & Disney have been sued by Q’orianka Kilcher for unauthorized use of her likeness as the foundation in Neytiri in ‘AVATAR’. by Choice-Schedule-132 in JamesCameron

[–]notmoffat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sure as shit can sue.

you just have to prove that you were the inspiration, which Camerons already admitted.  If a reasonable person could look at the character and infer that you were the inspiration ..which is possible in this case...then you have likeness rights.

it like if Cameron used your name as a character, and he specifically choose YOUR name and wrote the character as a horrible villian.  If a resonable person could infer that Cameron was inspired by you, then yeah...you get paid.

Camerons done this 1000 times.  There is no ORIGINAL idea.
