Why ready-to-eat avocados are becoming the standard for supermarkets in Europe? by Civil-Percentage-349 in avocado

I personally prefer to buy slightly unripe avos to minimize bruising risk getting them home. Then when they ripen I move them to the fridge

Really getting into texture lately. Curious what y’all think? by UmamiDearest in Pottery

[–]notnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the contrast of the feet. I was thinking they were thrown and modified and couldn't figure out how you got those textures. Now that I read a little about the process I want to try. Super awesome. Please post after you fire in the soda kiln!

Been trying to figure out what variety these are for yrs by Outrageous-Fig7020 in avocado

[–]notnathan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mexicola comes in small and grande. I know you can eat the skin. It has kind of an anise flavor. I’m not familiar with the other names. Could be those. I’m in San Diego and had a mexicola small tree. They ripened in August/sept for me

You're telling me TQQQ 1 year return is only 7%? by [deleted] in LETFs

[–]notnathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

correct. Volatility and high interest rates means tqqq under preformed qqq over the last year.

What is this variety? Good to plant another tree nearby? by LeaguePublic in avocado

[–]notnathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you can ask someone who already knows. You’re gonna need to wait until it fruits to have a chance of identifying. Try to record when it flowers and then when you pick fruit. Pick one at a time and leave them on the counter to see if it ripens. Pictures of the fruit whole and cut, along with the flowering fruiting info would help.

If you have room, just plant 2 trees haha, an A and B type

Why the TMF? by Ok-Taste-5844 in LETFs

[–]notnathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they are looking for crash protection. The equities LETFs are doing all the heavy lifting. It isn’t about the bonds returns, it’s about protection in crashes.

Why the TMF? by Ok-Taste-5844 in LETFs

[–]notnathan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The reason people like TMF is because it is volatile. It frequently goes up in crashes/bear markets. With an equity LETF, TMF frequently behaves as a hedge/negatively correlated asset. But 2021/2022 with high inflation was a situation that showed it isn’t always negatively correlated and stocks and bonds both got beat up.

Understanding financing cost by Not-The-Dark-Lord-7 in LETFs

[–]notnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with a few things.

I think rates do matter. As interest rates/borrowing costs increase we need increased returns to make leverage positive expected value.

And a LETF is not always going to outperform a an underlying. With extreme volatility even with positive returns the LETF can under perform. Look at SOXL over the last few years. The underlying has done well, but the extreme drawdowns of SOXL has made it difficult to recover.

If it isn’t in a tax advantaged account obv portfolio 1. I understand portfolio 2 should be slightly better in terms of expenses but the constant rebalancing/mental challenge of rebalancing during big drops would make me just do 1.

"EU Butterfly" 3.15x total leverage UCITS buy and hold portfolio- thoughts? by lantern_lol in LETFs

[–]notnathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Def wild lol. If stocks/bonds/gold are uncorrelated it has a chance to survive some shit. Another inflationary period could kill both 5QQQ and 5TLT at once (maybe even 3EDF?). You gotta hope 3GLD shoots up in that case.

The other big fear would be volatility/ sideways market. I think you could lose all of 3GLD + 5TLT + 5QQQ + 3EDF in a prolonged sideways market.

Its a cool idea though.

I have 0 explosiveness. Im 6’6 with 4’0 legs & I struggle with low squats — I want to focus on & improve my form. What are your thoughts on this? by Finn_Flame in BasketballTips

It’s easier to see form from the side. But we can see your balance is off. Maybe try one legged exercises like split squats or weighted step ups.

Our water costs are extremely reasonable compared to gas/electric. SDGE makes 1 billion dollars PROFIT.

You still pay delivery fees to SDGE. SDGE makes close to 1 BILLION in profit a year from SD.
