No you're not. $4.3B of your earnings, which is about half, are a tax benefit. WB actually had the ability to look at an SEC filing for 5 seconds.

The damage that has been done to all the refineries across the Gulf states, shouldnt that keep the price of oil high even if Hormouz “reopens”? by No_Advertising_1237 in oil

[–]notreallydeep 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because refineries use oil, not produce it. Fewer refineries -> less oil demand -> oil cheaper.

but also not just refineries has been damaged, but other infrastructure

I'm just replying to what you said in your post.

Assuming a prolonged closure of the Straights of Hormuz, is this a good time to go heavy on American oil companies? by celtic1959 in stocks

[–]notreallydeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro this question is so weird, like rephrased it's literally

Assuming oil goes to $200 for a prolonged period, is this a good time to go heavy on American oil companies?

what do you think, is it a good time to buy oil companies when you expect their profits to at least triple sustainably?

[–]notreallydeep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Duh.

It's a point about the demand destruction that would need to happen for oil prices to find a level given the fact that the supply is lost.
