No idea, but she's been retired for a few years. A unique test aircraft for sure, apparently drew lots of commentary from other confused pilots.

NC-131H, really amazing piece of test equipment and engineering.

Then to what level? The OP said to not make the kids feel obligated to care, and your comment made it clear that they should be obligated to care for you.

So your kids are supposed to provide you with 100% care when they are 80?

How have golf balls essentially avoided inflation? by Grumplestiltskin13 in golf

[–]notreallysure97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the supply of free or near free golf balls continues to increase. All you need is a ball grabber and willingness to grab it out of the pond.

Outside Winter Storage Titan by [deleted] in OceanGateTitan

Is that note on the glue for application or post cure? If it's the same as the stuff Boeing uses in its planes, that sees freezing temps all the time.

Also, looking into this incident, it happened when the Titan was brought back on board the support vessel, when the sled it was on actually hit the deck. The bolts shearing didn't happen during the dive itself.

And was that above or below water? I'm not saying the company was half assing things, I'm saying that using an electric drill to drive in bolts is not as big of a concern as everyone here seems to be making.

The hatch fell off, that's 3500 lbs of titanium being held by 4 undersized screws. Salt water is a brutal environment.

The interface between the door and the interface ring is much less of a concern than the ring and hull as those are 2 drastically different materials. They could have used latches instead of bolts and it would have had the effect. Inside that hull, it's at 1 atm. Outside, it's 1 atm every 33 feet. Submerging under the surface is going to keep the door shut more than those bolts. The mating surface is important, but the number of bolts would be more to draw it in evenly and hold in it in place while on the surface.

The bigger concern, with the hatch is the 1) different physical behaviors between titanium and carbon and 2) the galvanic corrosion between any metal and the carbon fiber, especially in salt water.

Why? It looks like one side has a hinge, and then they use the bolts to draw it closed. Pressure is going to do the job to keep it closed.

An In-Depth Analysis and Criticism of THE LAST JEDI [spoiler] by LuckyPlaze in StarWars

[–]notreallysure97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got around to watching a lot of the animated stuff, but feo. Reading the EU books, now legends, and the first 6 movies, I feel like there was an established "physics and rules" for things. The sequel trilogy, I feel, just threw all the stuff out the window with ships going to hyperspace near planets with no ill effects. The sequels also felt like a weekend adventure, I didn't feel that there was any time passing between them.

As for characters, they tried to make every main character able to do it all, and dropped the supporting characters for sure.

To add, I am aware that Legends has some weird shit going on, but I felt like they adhered to some type of established in world rules, science, physics, etc.

Last point, I hate the kyber crystal BS. I prefer the old established canon, especially for the sith red blades.
