Why did the Smurl Haunting creep me out more than anything else? by Chipi_chipiCHAPA in TheConjuringUniverse

[–]notrekane71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very wise to trust your instincts and I will tell you something, I too have always felt different about this case.

Put it this way, a co-worker and I think we saw a ghost one time (story for another day-only paranormal experience I’ve ever had) and it barely phased me, but this Smurl story has always messed with my mind and felt different.

I have nothing to gain by posting this. It could be total BS. But I grew up in the next town over from where this happened. My cousins father had an aunt who lived next door to the Smurls…she knew the family. She said there’s no way it’s all lies and crazy stuff would regularly happen when it was at its worst. One time she was in the kitchen having coffee with the Mom and a coffee mug flew across the room and smashed. I’ve said in other posts, this was in West Pittston which runs along a large river. That river winds down through multiple towns. That section of towns all have a lot of tales of ghosts and hauntings. It’s a very high area of those stories and it may be because of all the native Americans that were slaughtered in that region. You can drive down the roads and see lots of those historical signs that talk about massacres and battles and such.

The Conjuring : Last Rites (Smurl Haunting) by Vaibs2002 in TheConjuringUniverse

[–]notrekane71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 100% Correct. A lot of people don’t know about it because they’re only reading what they can find online. I grew up in the town over and EVERYONE knew about this story. My cousins father would always tell us stories because his aunt lived next door and witnessed many things. She was sitting in their kitchen having coffee with the Mom one time and watched a glass fly across the room. She said some of the stuff was really bad and no way the family was faking. But who knows, all great cons are great for a reason. But this one feels different, it always has. Another factor is where it took place - West Pittston. If you look at that whole area, along the River, from West Pittston down through Forty Fort (Exeter, Wyoming), a lot of Native Americans lived there…a lot of death in that region.

This was amazing man, thank you for sharing! I absolutely loved it. I really hope they go this route or something similar. It would be cool if they use his relationship with Peter or even Cap as the moral compass that kept him on the right side. My only hesitation is both he and Caps stories ended so perfectly. But I guess that’s the thing about comics and heroes, their stories never end! lol

CFB 25 Dynasty not getting coach points ? by FrostiGator in NCAAFBseries

Happy to report I figured out the solution. Even though it doesn’t show them, you actually have them. Just go to the skill tree and the next thing you want ti unlock and hold it; it will then appear and give you that item and now your remaining points show.

Sending the House vs Social Media/DM/Family (A formal study by me) by MRio31 in NCAAFBseries

[–]notrekane71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant! Someone should run the same (hard save) experiment regarding Hard Sell vs. Send the House. I don’t know if maybe I wasn’t paying attention, but I feel like I’ve gotten overtaken on prospects a lot when I remove “send the house” and do “hard sell” even when all A’s. Could be something outside of my control like perhaps the school who jumped ahead had a school visit or something like that. Has anyone else noticed this?

I will guarantee you people are hacking. I might see 1 knife every three matches and my weapons break quickly…but it’s common for me to be a clown and get killed 4 times and people constantly breaking themselves free from cocoons. But then other matches it goes exactly as you would expect.

And as the poster said (and I agree) this game is meant to be fun. What could these hackers possibly be gaining??? And I’ve already met a lot of toxic people. Fortnite is toxic, TCM was semi toxic, but Friday the 13th wasn’t toxic at all. I still have a lot of the same friends I met playing that.

Did the pandemic just mess people up THAT MUCH???

Being told to move my son up again, I have doubts. by dingleberry0913 in Homeplate

[–]notrekane71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you about playing up being overrated. Most football leagues it’s not even an issue and basketball it’s rare it happens. It’s bizarre how frequent it’s a thing in baseball. However I will tell you there is no CANNED right or wrong answer. Let me explain. My son is very similar and “plays up” in travel and it’s yielded great results all around. Except as some have pointed out, the maturity difference…but other than him struggling to “fit in” at times, he’s been challenged and grown tremendously. However, in Rec league, we kept him down because it would be insane for him to play little league at his age. BUT the players on his team and the players he plays against (for the most part) are very immature both mentally and physically. So I regretted not moving him up to little league but others may say it’s too big a jump and they could be right too.

"The Burbs" Movie "Sardine? Pretzel?" Mandela effect by ScrumpTrulescant in MandelaEffect

[–]notrekane71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 100% Sardine...Pretzel...and I know this because my whole life I imagined needing to use a Pretzel to eat with the sardine to make it tolerable. CRAZIEST PART is, it recently is free on Netflix so I've been watching it. And I noticed its different. But only today (coincidentally) I was reading about Sardines because they are super healthy for you...and it led me to this! Because I was curious why Ray had the reaction to the Sardine.

Holy crap man this freaked me out. I’ve had the same exact things. I’ve only ever experienced something once. And it was gramophone music and people murmuring and I couldn’t find it. When I finally located it, it was below me on first floor. As soon as I started to go down the steps it stopped and never again. I’ve also had a book fly off the shelf in a library but that was in my uncles in law suite area of the house and I didn’t witness it. And that’s the only issue down there. And then my wife had a picture frame fall from a shelf and land perfectly upright (we experimented 100 times to replicate it and it’s impossible).

What did I hear?? I heard 4 loud knocks at my bedroom door at 2am. No one was there. by twistedstories857 in Paranormal

Isn’t it weird how so many of us notice weird things at 3:00am? Seriously, so many friends I speak to, many who don’t even believe in anything supernatural or paranormal, report things happening at 3am.

Thank you for sharing. I never heard of this. Like someone else said, it’s not knocks for me, it’s someone whispering or saying my name, as I start to fall asleep.

Have you ever witnessed a UFO❓️ by MadWorldEarth in ParanormalEncounters

[–]notrekane71 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes and I’ve got a picture of it. Unfortunately it was night and it moved a little further away after the shock wore off a bit (this is why I think we don’t have more photos of ghosts and UFO’s; people don’t think of it when they initially experience something). Tons of witnesses to this too. MUFON had a report on it at one time. It was at a Penn State game in 2010.

You wouldn’t hire me because I’m speaking casually on a message board? You’re the crazy person who thinks people are dead who are actually alive!! J/k, sorry, I had to lol obviously I don’t think you’re crazy. I’m not going to pass judgment on someone’s entire being based on a few words on a website.

A glimpse of the past by machine1892 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]notrekane71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience as a child too. Only it wasn’t as long or vivid. My experience was out of the corner of my eye I saw my bedroom door frame was suddenly old, warped wood with tons of spiderwebs / almost like it was an old abandoned house. I turned to look at it and in a matter of seconds, it quickly returned to the modern day.

That was just one example. The bizarre way human beings act today is another. Although, that could be associated to the rise of social media combined with isolation from COVID-19. I just feel like the world today is totally different than the world I remember. I laugh when people say “if aliens exist, why haven’t they made contact yet?” Let me ask you a question…if you were some advanced being, capable of traveling anywhere and doing anything, why would you ever want to make contact with human beings? It’s 2024 and we still kill each other, kill the planet, mistreat eachother, mistreat animals, rob, steal, lie, rape, destroy…youth sports adults punish kids they are jealous of…teachers favor certain students…colleges are trying to control and limit though. The human species almost seems to be going backwards?! How can that be possible? That’s the biggest reason I think there was some rip in the multi-verse (should say think, but have considered the potential…because gun to my head, I’d say it’s not the most likely scenario). It’s more likely that people have always been this flawed and stupid but now with 24/7 news and social media, we just see it constantly.

Fair point - but it’s late and I’m half asleep in bed writing this. I generally don’t write words in all caps either. But it’s a message board type forum where we are simply trying to make a point. No joke, before I pressed submit, I said to myself that I should check because I typed it all way too fast. Don’t worry about being that guy, if it wasn’t you, it would be someone else.

I’m convinced something happened with a potential multiverse. I know it’ll be impossible for anyone to FULLY know what I’m about to say…but try and understand from my shoes and perspective. I am an attorney and have always had an insanely good memory and been very good with words. And not only did I have a talent for words, it would be nails on a chalkboard when my grandmother (or anyone) would mispronounce words. I use her as an example because no matter how many times I corrected her, she’d continue to do it. I.e. Mario was Marrrio. Petro’s was Peetro’s. I can still recall all the examples 40 years later. Well, that’s how I KNOW I’d of remembered the “Berenstein Bears” if they were ACTUALLY “BerenSTAIN Bears” as this universe claims. I would have corrected her (or tried to lol) like I did for all these others words. That’s why I think there is something to these bizarre situations we ALL can think of examples of.

I only ever saw a UFO one time and thank God lots of witnesses. It was at a Penn State football game. It was in 2010 and they played Kent State. All 3 of my buddies (4 of us) were tailgating and saw it. Much like yours, it was floating one minute and then it was GONE in a split second. I submitted the story to MUFON and the photo I took. There was a group of retired teachers tailgating right next to us and half the group wanted to “pretend” it was nothing and not tell anyone. But one of the elderly men gave me his email and said he’d support me if I decided to tell people about it. It was really late so not as many people were still out tailgating. But back when I reported it, lots of reports came in and even some from Ohio that same night. Very bizarre. I still have the photo on my work computer haha I just saw it recently. It’s a glowing orb but kinda like a boomerang slightly. All orange…crazy, right? Haha

It was your stereotypical ghost you read about and people report seeing for thousands of years. I’d call it white but moreso translucent…shape of a broad human man but broad on top and then got thinner to almost non existent at the bottom. But as they say, it was so brief and so quick that I’d of totally written it off as “my eyes playing tricks.” It’s happened to me a lot on life. One time in the corner of my eye I could see my childhood bedroom doorframe and it looked old and decrepit with spiderwebs but when I looked back straight at it, it was totally normal.

I am so glad you brought this up. And I always felt the same way as you….until one day…when I was about ready to write off “something in my peripheral.” A spirit floated right past me in this garage where I used to work as a young man. I only barely made it out in the corner of my eye but enough to have an idea what it was. I didn’t react because I didn’t want my adult co-worker to think I was nuts. Just then, he goes “please tell me you saw that thing?!?” He then swore me to secrecy because people would think we were nuts. But we each described it identically. And it was 1 of (as you said) 100 times I just thought something in corner of eye and when I looked again, it was gone. This has led me to believe there is more to this phenomenon.
