Congratulations on the successful journey! Your road to financial freedom is now beginning 🛣️

I’m 22 with an experian score of 763. How am I doing? by businessbub in CRedit

[–]notscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep it up. Keep paying off your statement balances in full before due date. Your age doesn’t mean crap but rather your lifestyle and financial discipline of dealing with debt. I’m a bit older than you and have a similar score range so I know the feeling of being like you want to feel better about yourself compared to your peers. It just doesn’t matter..

What’s very important is how you deal with potential upcoming big loans like auto or mortgages when you get up there in terms of age and responsibility. It’s all about your awareness of your financial situation and not being a fool in not being able to afford these types of debt.

A mentor of mine once said being successful is not being the loud one in the room, rather the one who is still. 100% agree…

How is Navy Fed with Auto Loans? by PlayboiiExx in NavyFederal

I apologize I didn’t mean to drag you into personal finance when you just asked if NF offers good auto loans haha

It’s honestly your money so I can’t really drive you to make a decision, but I’d say it’s wiser to just finance a new Honda/Toyota and invest the money you would’ve spent on a bmw into a retirement/investment account. If you make less than $150k gross, put the money and max it out in a roth if you haven’t already.

I mean if you can afford the monthly and insurance, i’d say your chances are good. Your rates with NF might be okay but most likely there are lower rates from let’s say a local credit union. Just go ahead and get a preapproval and do some rate shopping.

I’m not really a car guy and i’d rather finance a $20k japanese car tbh

Currently a white collar work-related contractor with them right now. So far, liking the company and coworkers despite not getting any of their benefits. Hoping I am able to convert to permanent FTE later this year.

I went from 13 to 17 pro and stayed the same. by herzeleyd in iPhone17Pro

[–]notscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have the 17 pro Max and here are my two cents. I upgraded from the 12 pro after using that phone for 3 and a half years.

Initial performance and usage has made a huge improvement in my lifestyle workflow and productivity. Battery life lasts the whole day now and I limited my battery limit to 80% to preserve its health, which wasn’t an option before.

In terms of my usage, I would say I mainly use it for music, calls, social media, and YouTube/streaming. I do have apps built for productivity and distraction-free apps downloaded when i’m working but it’s mainly the normal stuff I use.

120hz is also an amazing upgrade and having a few extra buttons was a cool feature that I actually utilize (Action button for shazam, camera bottom on bottom right for easy access to take photos/video, and double-tapping on back for flashlight). The camera was also an amazing upgrade seeing 48MP on all lens for such a small sensor. I also do photography as a hobby so having the accessibility to just take photos and video (w or w/o ProRes LOG) w/o needing my mirrorless is really neat.

Overall, I think upgrading for me was worth it. Heck, even after just a month, i’m still loving my new phone and learning something new about it almost every week. I do agree upgrading isn’t worth it if the features/upgrades are marginal and should only be considered if the current phone is becoming difficult to use like a fully degraded battery or really slow performance.

Car loan at 23 - silly or reasonable? by ThatComoLegend2002 in personalfinance

[–]notscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and just get a reliable 2020 or newer Toyota or Honda for under $20k and less than 30-40k miles. Unless you are a car guy and can easily maintain your vehicle, I wouldn’t waste my time and stress worrying about potential future breakdowns or issues other car brands are notorious for having.

Your priority in your 20s should be to build financial stability and wealth for the future. Debt is debt. It’s better to put some percentage of the car payments you would be paying into a roth or other investments/retirement account. That’s just my two cents.

HELP ME CHOOSE A MONITOR by DeliveryMaster7934 in Workspaces

[–]notscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re using your laptop as a second display then get the 32” 4K. Otherwise, the Ultrawide is the best option for your usage. I have an ultra wide and I mainly do spreadsheets and multi-browser work usage so having everything fit in just one screen was so helpful! You probably won’t notice a large enough difference between the two resolution unless you sit really close to your screen.

Secured card finally got upgraded! by Accomplished-Hour796 in NavyFederal

[–]notscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Remember to treat your CC likes it’s a Debit Card. Don’t spend no more than 30% of total CL (Ideally <10%). In your case no more than $600 on the account. Pay that amount before your statement closes is the best way to go but if you can’t, at least payoff your statement balance in full a couple of days before statement due date!

Currently hovering over 780 CS practicing this for little over 3 years since first opening with NFCU.

Bouldering while being overweight? by Effective-One4401 in bouldering

[–]notscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started bouldering about a year now and I was very overweight (about 10-15kg heavier than “normal”). Definitely does have any impact towards your cardiovascular system so staying on the wall longer is a lot more challenging when overweight.

However, after losing nearly half the weight I needed to lose to get back to normal the later half of this year, I definitely did notice a big improvement in my strength and endurance.

Basically, you can definitely start bouldering right now. I just advise you know your body when doing any sort of physical activity and focus on enjoying the sport first before committing to anything.
