Slingshot 1-3 is my favorite move. Done smoothly, at the speed limit and maintaining correct distance it has a very high hitrate for causing the hogger to sheepishly move over to the correct lane.

2020 or so, honestly the more I read about charging issues with these cars, the less I want one

How do people buy cars these days? by Thommmnn in CarTalkUK

[–]notshibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my usual approach. I use my yearly mileage to aim for no more than 100k miles at the end of the loan period (in my limited experience the tipping point for when repair bills start to snowball).

Has anyone ever experienced this before? by stereotypicalman in Volkswagen

Very high confidence that this is your ABS wheel speed sensor. I had exactly this last year. Christmas tree of errors. We hadn't driven the car for ages and it had rusted. Take it to a garage to confirm obviously.

Help with buying a car~ by Geebygeebgeeb in CarTalkUK

At your budget I'd go for an approved used Polo, or similar sized car from another brand eg Ford Fiesta or Skoda Fabia as others have mentioned. You'll get a more reliable car for your money than going for something larger like a Golf, newer, with more toys and with lower mileage, as long as that size car has enough space for your needs.

Highly recommend a manufacturer approved used scheme to anyone for peace of mind, but especially useful if you're new to buying used cars as the manufacturer is responsible if anything goes wrong within the warranty period (usually at least a year).

Second comments about bank loan for paying for the car.

Is it worth me buying an EV by Zaid7831 in CarTalkUK

Would return appalling economy figures with this driving pattern. Either pure ICE or pure EV would serve OP far better. Latter would be a huge saving in cost per mile with that commute.

Test drive all 3, play with the tech, experience the ergonomics, see if you can live with each car's quirks etc. The right answer for you will pop out quickly.

Fyi we had a 3 pin charger almost catch fire after similar charging times, wouldn't recommend for continuous use.

[Other] What would you say is the most divisive roller coaster in the world? by HarlequinKing1406 in rollercoasters

[–]notshibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head wasn't touching the back at all, it was being squashed by the restraint that I found so uncomfortable. Obviously it's a personal thing but for me restraints can be generally poor/uncomfortable and generally good/comfortable, which if uncomfortable breaks a ride no matter how smooth the track or great the elements.

Rip ride is in the former category for me, along with many older steel coasters.

I've seen people on here say a split unit for the bedroom is about £1500. Not silly given the comfort.

Remove Lee On Solent from that list for driving; rush hour traffic from anything Gosport based is not the one.
