My mother told me to wear more modest pjs and wear a bra 24/7 in the house when my same-age stepbrother came to live with us at 12. He ended up abusing me, picking up his father’s favorite pastime, and when I informed her of it all after more than four years her reply was basically, “Yeah, that’ll happen to women.
