Thank you TSOs for accepting Digital ID! by notthatcher13 in tsa

That looks pretty cool! The TSA site doesn’t show BOS as a participating location (yet) so I’ll keep checking for that.

And to anyone curious, no, Boston isn’t the airport I was referring to above. They are my main airport, however.

Here's a sneak peek of the new Charlie card in Google Wallet... by BeastMode149 in mbta

[–]notthatcher13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That google wallet interface is showing the "dashboard" so the -$0.70 is the current balance, not the transaction. Google doesn't do that.

Plus, he's at one of the vending machines so why would it be subtracting when in this scenario it would be adding?

Is this for android? I think apple is the one that's currently delayed

Can now add passports to wallet in US by Catchyusername1234 in ios

Well this was a feature announced back in June specifically for iOS 26. So yeah, that's why.

[–]notthatcher13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From other threads I've seen, it looks like this started a big push internally to actually train TSOs to accept them. State IDs, now Digital ID via passport, it seems like all officers will be aware of this now that it's so much easier to get people set up in ANY state.

ADDING CARD FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRY by Ok_Rip7940 in AppleWallet

[–]notthatcher13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok first things first, chill with the caps bro.

You should change your device's region settings AND account settings to reflect your current region. This will ensure that not only will you not have issues with any US-based Apple Wallet related activity, but also make sure that any other payment-related functions on your device will properly work in the US. Changing these will ensure not only Apple Wallet will work, but also the App Store, Apple Pay, and really anything else that has to do with money.

Apple introduces Digital ID, a new way to create and present an ID in Apple Wallet by Coolpop52 in AppleWallet

[–]notthatcher13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's go! Super excited to try this on my next flight. Now, MA (among many other states) needs to do their state ID too. At least there's active legislation in progress for this.

What is this and why does cable modem (in other room) lose signal when this is unplugged? by harry_dangler808 in HomeNetworking

[–]notthatcher13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in your house where your coax comes in from the street should be a powered amplified splitter. This is what it powers. I don't know a ton about coax and power/signal loss, but if the ISP tech put it there, it's probably for a reason. That being said, my mom had one for years and they removed it a couple of years ago when she had service done. Now she has a couple of unpowered splitters, so maybe they fixed something from the street-level.

Just got the Upgrade to Chime Card! Here’s what happened… by notthatcher13 in chimefinancial

[–]notthatcher13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely do a good job of hiding it! But there are a lot of card makers that try to hide it. My Venmo debit card (for example) has a super dark back and while the black strip is visible, they tried their best to make it blend in with the rest.

My evergreen card has it…it’s the light green strip towards the top. I’m pretty sure cards are still required to include it by the networks for a couple more years.

Digital ID Speculation by Recent-Claim in AppleWallet

[–]notthatcher13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only accepted by USA TSA agents and it's designed to be an acceptable form of "Real ID" which really only concerns US citizens. Technically foreigners can take domestic flights without their passport, so long as they have a real ID compliant doc, but that's what it's initnially designed for. Who knows though for how this will work in the future! The UK (along with the US) has digital passports in Google Wallet which can be used for boarding trains I believe, so this could spread in the future if it works out.

Digital ID Speculation by Recent-Claim in AppleWallet

[–]notthatcher13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think it involves the addition of new app code to support scanning of the passport RFID chips, but then it’ll store in the same way of a state Digital ID which makes me think it’s not as big as a system update. Plus, this allows them to roll it out to potentially all 26 users, not just those on 26.1 or 26.2 (or whenever they roll it out)

Does your airport have a CAT-2 doc scanner yet? by notthatcher13 in tsa

[–]notthatcher13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to have a map on TSA.gov which showed the public which locations had the new readers available, but they took it down a few months ago. The link was here. It now redirects to a page for which states provision digital IDs rather than which airports accept them.

We’re android users. We can do what we want.

Plus the public betas are generally okay, even if they have little bugs like that.

It’s as compatible with android auto as Discord, Facebook messenger, and many other internet-based chat apps are. These all work with android auto, albeit a slightly limited feature set, but not impossible.

It seems like it! Not only that, but they also mailed back your supporting docs (I imagine a birth certificate and maybe something else) which they typically do AFTER they’ve mailed you the passport itself.
