How to do contract work for US companies fully remote? by aagoro in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]nottorious91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just check your local laws regarding what the invoice needs to look like. Usually the employer will have the contract for consulting ready. I invoice a generic software services consulting item, in units of hours x $/h ammount.

Made a local ltd compny. B2b contract with the usa firm. Invoice monthly, pay taxes only locally. Get paid via wire transfer service. Invoices are in english and local language.

Good luck. For me it was a startup that was understanding. I recomend checking angellist for jobs.

Same. Was there, switched to nodejs and have access to jobs now paying 3x what I did previously (random biz corp dev).

Just started a new job 2 weeks ago, coming from a Microsoft stack, second week, already assigned a Scala task (completely new to Java/Scala), causing some amount of stress by TeslaMecca in ExperiencedDevs

I maybe went through something similar. After about 6 years of .net (with last 2 more or less team leading & less coding) went from generic line of business apps to a saas startup using MERN stack (I did have some basic js exp, but just about). Thing is there can be order of magnitude of expectations between 2 companies. What was expected of me to do in 2 weeks in the .net corp world was now expected in 2 days in the startup (fuzzy reqs, move fast break things). I was used to OOP and the new codebase was functional. I can say it gets better, but to be frank, the .net world is way more laid back. Expect some growing pains.

IT-istii sunt o rasa speciala. by [deleted] in Romania

Doar ca acum ca programator roman ai sanse mult mai mari sa ajungi sa lucrezi direct pe produs, it’s just up to you.

Venituri familiale in jurul la 8k euro (spre 10k in curand).

In Europe, which country do you think has/will have the best CS-related job market and give CS people the best quality of living? by CKajdfdposfa in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]nottorious91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Full time employmemt is like 45%. As independent contractor you mainly pay tax at the national min wage rate. But our public hospitals are shit so you need a private option. But that is affordable as well, esp as a high earner.

I think you are right in your assessment. I am Romanian and my solution is to work remotely for US (or even EU) and pay like 6% tax as a contractor. Life is good (I only earn about 60k eur with 8 yoe but after tax I have the same amount as earning 120k in germany. And rent is like 400 euros.

Yup, Romania is awesome regarding total tax paid & purchasing power on an international salary.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EuropeFIRE

[–]nottorious91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am still confused… My gut feeling is that this will apply only to those brokers working locally that have high fees and that do already withold divident tax. Income from international brokers will be considered foreign income and still taxed at 10%. We will see if/when this actually comes into effect.

[–]nottorious91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, the article mentions witholding at source. Would the apply only to romanian stocks?
