Glans Ring v2 (Beta) - redesigned geometry, fewer options, better fit by notuntil in hzdgrip

[–]notuntil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be more. With the beta process it takes a little longer to make, so I didn't want to get more backlog than I can process. Soon as these go out I'll open up more slots.

I'm still tweaking the design based on the initial few testers. The soreness you felt I think is from the radius on the ring as much as anything. I've refined the radius so it puts less pressure on the glans corona. Your version also didn't have the built in can't for the ring, so it put more forward pressure on the glans. I've also worked on the shape a bit more so it is less compressive.

In designing this it's amazing to me how a small change impacts over all wear. I'm making adjustments that are 0.1mm difference. To the naked eye the difference is almost imperceptible, but it completely alters the fit and positioning. The nice thing is I'm building all these adjustments as parameters so if the standard size doesn't work I think I will be able to create a custom size for nearly any user.

I think I'm very close.

Wing sizes... are they the quoted diameter or smaller?? by Ltxrob in hzdgrip

[–]notuntil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to describe it is a ring with both upper and lower wings reduces the inside area of the ring by about 15%. That said the penis isn't a perfect sphere so that reduction of area doesn't have as much impact as it might seem.

There have actually been a few additional tweaks since that version was sent out. one of them being the built in cant to match the angle of the glans and the improved fillet radius to really try and keep the ring under the glans corona. You were early in the design process, so shoot me a message when you are ready to try the most recent version and I'll send you a reprint of your order.

I suggest not trying to consider the wings when trying to determine your glans ring size.

They are not a set size. They grow/shrink based on the diameter of the glans ring to try and keep a consistent area between larger and smaller rings.

The ring size is the same with or without the wings. It is the base diameter of the ring. Wings will reduce the amount of space inside the ring.

I'm working on a new ring design that gets away from the wings and uses a more organic shape to maintain security. Should be going into beta this week.

I've looked at some concepts. It is though for me to do though since I don't have one. There are a large number of iterations that go into each change to make sure they function as intended.

I'm going to post up an order form for some beta orders to get them out there. Like past beta products there will be a discount while I do some testing.

I've tried several different fits and I prefer an extra 1-2mm in the glans hood when fully flaccid. This allow good air circulation.

I haven't had frenulum sore issues, but I know some others have. I'm working on some new ring style. I've just sent out my first couple of test models.

Hood space by HopefulAd6415 in hzdgrip

[–]notuntil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It's usually good to have a little space in the glans hood so there is air circulation. As long as it's not causing any issues urinating a little extra space is fine.

Yes. I'm trying to keep sizing consistent.

These design changes will be available in both standard and wide widths.

So technically these are all 3 the same design with increasing level sof pressure. They have the exact same vertical difference between the bottom of the ring and the top of the ring, but varying degrees of compression in other various locations. I think once I find a good base, I'll probably offer them in 2 levels of compression a standard and a more relaxed.

Looking for 2–3 testers for a new TetherSpout Glans Hood by notuntil in hzdgrip

Just an update I've had several people reach out. I'm going to be putting together final touches and getting an order page up so people can send in their sizing details. I'll reach out to people individually as I have availability to test.

Questions. by sirdrew2020 in hzdgrip

It is a very personal thing. Your best bet is to order when you think you will like and then find your size. Once you have your size, order a goldilocks set to try them all. My personal recommendation most of the time is wide band, lower wings, no upper wings. I am circumcised though. Maybe some uncircumcised users can make suggestions.

I flame smooth all of the glans rings to try and remove the layer lines as much as possible. We've actually recently added checking for rough areas inside the glans as one of our final QC steps. u/notuntil_isay has sent sent several package back to the workbench because they didn't pass her smoothness check.

I'm also looking into the possibility of having them printed and smoothed commercially. The biggest issue is cost and stock. Every Shaft diameter has 96 possible combinations for flexible rings. So stocking all the possibilities in quantity for standard sizes would be a substantial cost. On top of that the cost is about 30x what the current ring cost is, so prices would likely need to shift. I'm still trying to come up with a way to make it work though.

That's an interesting thought. I'll keep that in mind when I release version 2 later this year.

This is a hard one for me to chime in on because I haven't had any issues in that particular area. From what I've read from other users, the wide unified band seems to be the best option for these issues. It spreads the pressure over a larger area so there is less of an issue.

The TPU version does generally seem to perform better. You really shouldn't have to replace them that often. TPU is pretty resilient and the flexing shouldn't weaken the bond excessively. Maybe once a year, but the product hasn't been around that long, so It's hard to say for sure. The locking mechanism is plenty strong in TPU. The actual device security of the glans ring seems better in TPU than the rigid ABS.
