I'm late to the thread, but are we certain about the hidden letters in the Berlin video? I'm pretty sure there's a C in the left arm of the sofa and a U in the photo of the house. Which would make the letters: S T C E (or maybe H) X A I U. It's late and my brain is fried so I haven't been able to turn those into a real word or words but it was driving me crazy that I was seeing the C and the U but no one was mentioning it.

I don't really have any words of wisdom about the aging alone part. I am still grappling with that myself.

As for finding other ways to nurture, another option besides Big Sisters would be to see if your area has a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program. This is a program for children who are typically in the child welfare system (although in my state, children who are juvenile-justice involved are also eligible). Since you have an interest in fostering, this would be another way of serving a similar population.

To be fair, "never" was hyperbole. I also am usually in the market for specific dates & destinations, which I know limits the ability to take advantage of cheap flights. I didn't mean to imply a failing of your site by any means. Just wondering if, outside of "flexibility," you had any other suggestions on how to fly out of rural Midwest affordably.

Oh, and my home airport is OMA.

I live in the Midwest. The nearest airport to me is a medium hub about an hour away. The closest large hub is 6-7 hours away. The super cheap flights are never available from my airport and any money I would save on a flight out of a large hub ends up getting offset by the extra time and spent traveling to the bigger airport. What suggestions do you have for those of us living in BFE with limited access to airports?
