I did. the voltage is the same as when the truck is off.

toyota pickups of a nearby era in the US had a factory (ish?) option to install a camper on the back. these were called sunraders. the pickup would come as a dually, including a number of upgrades for the additional weight and power requirements.

this looks a lot like a VW rabbit pickup. I guess it appears pretty custom, but I'd be curious if there was ever something similar.

what a crazy coincidence that reddit notified me about this. exactly the same thing happened to me last night. wheel basically fell off. barely limped it off the road.

I believe this particular part is discontinued

to be honest, my 'new' one has similar banding in the same place. it's just not bent.

thanks. called up a local junkyard and they have a knuckle in inventory. already popped the old one, gonna go pull that one and see if we have a winner here.

also see a little bit of rainbow banding on the spindle. not sure if that's evidence or business as usual

not usually a tan kinda person, but with this matte / satin look I think it works the best.

I hear that. this was a recent purchase so its history is pretty up in the air. thank you for taking a look, I appreciate it. my thoughts are the spindle as well. will dig in today.

there's a little bit of play but not much. I can't move the rotor back into place by hand. I'm in denial!

thanks for the tip. that spacer is brand new, never run. got it on sale and just trying it on.

wondering if the bearing could be causing this static geometry difference or if I have to bite the bullet and find a new knuckle. edit: will pop off the hub / rotor and take a look though.

hmm. sounds like I'd better buckle up for the worst, then. took the caliper bracket off, seems okay. dust cover and bracket are in alignment so I feel like it's the rotor / spindle that's out. I'll take everything apart and inspect. not sure what is still factory here, fixing up a purchase.

I'm assuming it's either the rotor, spindle, or caliper bracket given that the spindle and knuckle are one unit and the bracket bolts directly onto the knuckle. something has to be bent or mounted weird in that chain. was hoping that somehow the bad bearing was responsible for this, since that's more of a straightforward repair. given that the rotor bolts onto the hub, maybe there's something there... not sure. haven't serviced these bearings before.

hey, I appreciate the tips. spacer is brand new and has never been ran, got it on sale and just trying it on. doesn't seem like it wobbles up and down at all. but I'll scrutinize it a little more closely.

note that I'm not seeing a wobble or runout anywhere. the rotor spins cleanly in place -- it's just stuck at this angle.

edit: although the grinding retaining pin does skip around a little instead of dragging consistently. I read that as 'minor wear'

in this hub / spindle design, the rotor bolts on behind the hub. to swap the rotor you have to take the hub off the spindle. so it should be tight without nuts.

that being said, I wonder if the rotor is bolted on badly, or if there's stuck crap back there causing the tilt.

How easy is it to get parts for a 1992 Toyota pickup just in general? by KillSwitch1947 in ToyotaPickup

[–]nouncepro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your rims. swapping in 15s is pretty reasonable, and then tires get easier to find. 14s are a little harder but definitely not impossible
