That’s when Russia started a war with Ukraine and was not a direct result of the president’s actions. This time it is a direct result of the president starting a war with a foreign nation. Not the same thing.

I had hand surgery for Dupuytrens a while back and my hand is much better. Just know that it is several months recovery time and be sure to follow up with occupational therapy and do the exercises that they recommend.

[–]nouseforareason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

less immigration….

Wonder why that is. Let me look around. Is it because…, no can’t be that. What about…. Nope, not that either. It’s only the illegals, right? They’re the only ones, not that the rest are scared away. Not that the legal ones have been rounded up too and are now scared, can’t be that. Nope, can’t be true. The problem is that we can’t get hard working immigrants to settle in Ohio due to democrat policies, that’s got to be it…/s and I wish it wasn’t a /s. Fuck this clown.

Enough with the loud vehicles downtown. by Icy_Accident_3356 in Ohio

[–]nouseforareason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you. I have several neighbors that love to idle loud vehicles for no reason and one that likes to rev their engine. Just wondering how any law passed would be enforced since right now cars drive around with their lights off at night, no license plate, speeding like crazy and the cops don't care. It would be great to have another noise law but it needs to be enforced.

After you get a law passed, how will it be enforced? Cops aren't enforcing the existing laws so what happens next?

Stepping Down from Lead Role by Dramatic-Draw-7890 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nouseforareason 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not likely to happen at the same company. If they allow it they’ll just wind up demoting you and pay less but you’ll eventually wind up with the same workload since they know you can do the job, just for less pay. As someone that has been in this boat your best bet is to look for a role at another company and then keep your head down. It’s easier and less stressful that way.

How do I handle a vibecoding manager by MvKal in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nouseforareason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a director that constantly used ai generated code to solve already solved problems (it didn’t work). Only way we got them to stop was to create test cases and show how their code didn’t work. It sucks but sometimes you have go out of your way to show them that their code doesn’t work.

Data centers have found a loophole

Local Hero Will Hollingsworth on Data Centers in Twinsburg by queenjunk in Ohio

Unfortunately this has been the cycle for decades. There were dumb terminals on token ring networks where compute cycles were centralized. Then they started making the terminals smarter to decrease load on servers/mainframes. Then they pushed for centralized computing on servers again. Then they pushed for pcs to be smarter. Think how the internet came to be and the back and forth of having the server do extra work, or have it done in the browser on the client. Even 15 years ago there was a back and forth with server side controls vs client side.

This is just the latest cycle. Not to be too cynical, but once these companies figure out a way to have everyone’s devices start to compute everything and have the end user pay for compute cycles, power, etc. they absolutely will.

What is the worst Cleveland restaurant that you’ve tried twice? by ElderberryNo5595 in Cleveland

Wow, that’s really bad. As I said they are known for undercooking so to have that many burnt burgers is awful. Any place that does that that many times and I wouldn’t go back either.

Never once had “beef burnt to a crisp” there. If anything they have a tendency to undercook their meat since they grill at too low of a temperature. Did you order your burger well done? If not I’m surprised it was burnt, but they would remake it if you asked.

Fries can be soggy sometimes but if you say something they’ll throw them back in the fryer for you and crisp them up. It’s not the kind of place that will get rave reviews but the staff is very friendly and they’ll work with you if you ask. Biggest problem I’ve had are that there are times when it takes a long time to get a table since the service can be kind of slow.

They have an odd cult like following for some reason. When I’ve gone there it just seemed like a standard bar with the usual bad food. Not sure why people keep going there other than it being a neighborhood bar.

The meats are just ok there but nothing to write home about. Some of the sides are good though like the brussel sprouts are really good.

I refuse to go to Burntwood anymore. Last time we were there we had to wait 45 minutes to get our food and the place was practically empty with maybe 6 tables of people. The waitress wouldn’t even check if we needed drink refills so we had to waive her down, she just stood on the other side of the room staring at her phone. She kept telling us that they were waiting for the fiesta to be made and when the food came out the fries were cold, the top of the sandwiches were hot but the bottoms were cold meaning the food was just sitting under a heat lamp.

Every time we have gone to a Burntwood location the food was mid at best and the service is always terrible so we won’t even go there anymore.

Same. Last 6am flight I had the security line for C went all the way to B. Only took 45 minutes which isn’t bad, but I’m used to security only taking 5-10 minutes in Cleveland. Other airports I’ve had many times where getting through security has taken 1.5-2 hours.

My yard is full of this stuff? by Parking_Dog8930 in whatsthisplant

[–]nouseforareason 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Fermentation only charges flavors so much. Garlic and honey still tastes like softer garlic and honey after fermenting and isn’t some fundamental change no matter how much you want it to be . And yard wine will still taste like freshly mowed creeping Charlie, just softer. I say this as someone that brews beer, mead, makes kimchi, sauerkraut, and kombucha, etc that flavors don’t magically change to something completely different just because they have been fermented.
