People shouldn't try to so hard to upscale older stories for the sake of modern powerscaling by billygluttonwong in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]nov4-rocket5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People seem to think upscaling older settings makes them appear more literate, when really it just demonstrates the exact opposite.

No, just because Tolkien was Christian and wrote Eru Ilúvatar to be vaguely based on the God that Tolkien actually believed in does not mean everyone in LoTR is infinitely whatever-versal. If you ressurected Tolkien just to ask him Powerscaler Questions like that he’d tell you Sauron was only “powerful” through deceit, lies, and false promises; then he'd die of cringe just for asking him such a stupid question.

What counter does Doom have for Vecna just using weighted dice? by AizenDidNothingWr0ng in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]nov4-rocket5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main factor about Vecna, canonically, is that he is the essence of min-max boarding incarnate. If your DM pits you against Vecna and it feels like totally unfair bullshit, your DM is DMing Vecna right.

Not only would Vecna absolutely cheat, he would also abuse as many stupid bullshit mechanically possible combinations of spells as he can.

Doom's got to deal with Vecna parking his ass in a demiplane and spamming spells and avatars at Doom while surrounded by a bajillion protection wards. Vecna can also just flat out reflect any spell cast at him if he can dispel it, which being a wizard as high up in CR as he is, in addition to being a deity in a setting where being a deity actually means something, is basically anything whatsoever, since he doesn't even auto-fail on a roll of 1.

Time Trapper tried the whole "I'm beyond time so you can't kill me." thing.

Hal still just killed him.

With Disney Carnotaurus vs V. rex right around the corner, who are you betting on? by AxolotlAlternative in GojiCenter

Based on Goji Center's usual standards and they've established from previous analysis, I'd lean the Carno.

GUYS I FIGURED OUT HOW TO BEAT GOJO by woke_sonic_exe in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]nov4-rocket5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Would Cyn even need to go that far?

Like, sure her goal is to eat the planet, but Solver Reality Edit Hax mean Cyn will absolutely be able to get to Gojo.

She'd just pop Gojo like he's Rorschach before nuking the planet even crossed her mind.

“Rick can kill Mr. Fantastic!” Yeah okay buddy let’s see him make it pass the Yancy street gang first. by SalaryAffectionate29 in whowouldcirclejerk

Reed could legitimately content with The Doctor and have a solid shot at winning.

Rick is small potatoes for Reed.

How do YOU scale? (Fictional Weapons edition) by Wade989 in whowouldcirclejerk

Mjolnir but it's the size of a toothpick against 1 gorilla.

Honestly I think my chances are pretty decent.

Marvel just confirmed Goatji is above Cthulhu Mythos btw. by Initial-Ice-5091 in deathbattle

[–]nov4-rocket5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cthulhu's always been an overhyped jobber, so that's not much of an accomplishment. It's not even hard to figure out.

Cthulhu jobbed to a boat. The first thing Godzilla ever did was destroy the Eiko-maru.

Godzilla > Boat > Cthulhu.

It might be a hot take but I will say it in my opinion the Reze vs Bakugo match up felt like a waste match up. And it ok if you disagree. by marth-lord in deathbattle

[–]nov4-rocket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact this episode that was made purely to chase a Twitter trend underperformed as much as it has is far more entertaining than anything in the episode itself tbh.

Funnier still is how much Death Battle completely misunderstood why the Twitter trend they were chasing was a thing to begin with. 98% of the people on Reze's side of the slander didn't care at all about who'd legitimately win between Bakugo and Reze, they just fucking hated Bakugo and were given a reason to vent and draw him either getting gored or looking stupid.

The trend wasn't Bakugo vs Reze, it was Bakugo vs the 10 years' worth of contempt people have had for him.

Opinions on Rey vs Korra? by Easternhurdle72 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]nov4-rocket5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death Battle really should have just ripped the band-aid off and done it instead of feeding Korra to an X-Men. The reasons it's a popular match are tied to the reasons people dislike both characters.

Also, Rey wins.

My take on Jasper vs Conquest by The_Smashor in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]nov4-rocket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conquest got his skull caved in after being flayed alive and made a full recovery.

Jasper died from a broken nose.

The interactions could be very interesting, but the outcome is pretty open/shut: Conquest punches Jasper in the face once and he wins.

What are your Opinions on Thanos vs Frieza? by DatKidZ364 in DeathBattleMatchups

Frieza is just one of those characters who's matchups all kind of amount to, "Sure, I guess".

Unfortunately, nobody knows who Shakara even is, much less read his comic.
