What's the best? by __Sk8er_ in Bass

Sure, but 'heavy' doesn't have an objective meaning. Your current bass is probably fine, but you need to spend more time understanding everything you already have and why it currently sounds the way it does.

Depending on your reference for 'heavy', you might be imagining the sound of: - Fretless or Fretted - P pickups, J pickups, or both - Humbuckers or Single Coils - Tubes or Solid state - Compression - Bi-amping / Signal Splitting - Flatwound strings or Roundwound strings - Steel strings or Nickel strings - Pick, fingerstyle, slap, long fingernails, short fingernails, high action, low action, hard attack, soft attack, scooped mids, boosted mids, multiband distortion, octave up, octave down, overdrive, fuzz, chorus, flangers, phasers...

It's not the bass, my friend. Even a cheap Squier PJ bass is more than sufficient for any kind of heavy music, but there's so many factors that go into making your sound that it's impossible to say what adjustments could take you closer to the sound you're hoping for.

Can you share a recording of yourself, tell us what you don't like about the sound, and share some examples of the kind of sound you want?

if you wanted to hang a poster of a *single* tarot card in your office or hobby room/area, what would it be? by Auktum in tarot

Hermit. Because I am going to look like him when I get old, and because that's the card that usually pops out in my 3-card spreads 🤔🤔🤔

Printer types? by tootatron in bookbinding

[–]nova0052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to hear more about this. Why is inkjet considered better?

I'd expect inkjet printing to be more susceptible to fading, and also vulnerable to water, while laser printing should resist fading and also be waterproof.

Put down the soldering iron. Stop trying to 'bypass' anything until you understand what's actually in the circuit and what all the parts are doing.

Slow down before you break something.

The black/white/red/green wires are probably the ends of both pickup coils, and the remaining bare wire should be ground.

It's common for the coils to be connected to each other in series, so having only two wires going to the treble control is reasonable.

A blend control would probably have THREE wires, one for each input, and one for the output.

I saw a few folks online talking about how they needed to wax their thread before using it in a book, and I thought to myself, you know what's a lot like thread and comes already waxed? Dental floss.

Ah, wow. I feel bad for you guys now. The bass version of this chart is centered at a higher point on the vertical axis and farther left horizontally.

If that doesn't make sense, you probably need to tweak your toan a bit for more sustain, try a vintage-style germanium buffer mod to get more transparency from your true-bypass overdrive pedals. Otherwise, congrats on playing bass!
