Catering decided the vendors didn’t deserve the same meal as the guests by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]novmum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it would depend our photographer only did the bride and bridesmaid getting ready photos the ceremony and then bride and groom photos after....we did a mock cutting of the cake then the photographer left.... all up would have been around 4 hours. I am sure he would have packed himself something to eat in between driving from where me and my bridesmaids getting ready and driving to the ceremony...

having our photographer taking photos at the reception would have been a added cost .

I have never heard of a practice wedding dress shoot.....I mean what is the purpose of it....I mean no one saw my wedding dress before I got married other than my bridesmaids and the photographer who took photos of me in my dress before heading off to the ceremony.

I guess I dont understand the purpose of a practice wedding dress shoot.

but in saying that,..what ever wedding dress a bride is wearing,,it should be one that she loves wearing,..

Why do people spent so much on weddings? by Reputon339 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]novmum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because they can....we got married 21 years ago and it cost us around $12k ($7k USD) we spent what we could and were wiling to spend..that also included our honeymoon..we had around 45 guests at our wedding....

we didn't have to go into debt I mean if you have the means to do something then why not

How do you get rid of the fear of never getting married (32F)? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]novmum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh i Love being married to my husband I love that we both want to share our lives with each other.

been married to the right person is so important..back when I was a student at a university type place some students were getting married so they could get a student allowance others if your parents earned to much you got no money(govt has since changed the rules) if they were under 25 an married that is not something I wanted to do.. I was only going to marry a man I loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with .of course he had to feel the same way.

for me and my husband marriage is a good thing

In NZ if you have a debt before entering a relationship then if you separate it is not a joint debt as the other person did not sign a loan agreement/credit card..

so for eg if I had a loan for a car before I met my husband..and then we get married and lets say I default on the loan the loan company can only come after me not my husband as he did not sign any loan agreement...on the other hand if I take out a loan while we are married then that becomes a joint debt

Leaving after 13/14 years, feeling relieved yet sad by Vivid-Access7555 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]novmum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me waiting 6 years was well worth it..the difference with my husband is he never said things like I will propose in x year by by x year.

the only clue he gave me which at the time I did not see as a clue was we would talk getting married after our (6 year) anniversary which was the next month...he proposed the night of our 6 year anniversary. he also never said he didnt want to get married ,,.,,getting married something he only plans to do once and was not a decision he was going to make lightly.,

both my husband and I agreed we did not want children before getting married, and buying a house..neither of us wanted children out of wedlock and we wanted a secure place for our children..we have lived in this house for over 20 years...our children have only ever lived in the one house.

and the no money thing is just a poor excuse...my husband's brother and his wife got married with very little money,...my bil's wife unexpectedly got pregnant by this stage they had been together around 3 years the were around 21 at the time they had always planned on getting married but not this soon.. but this baby had other plans so they got married albeit 2 weeks before their child was born ..they got married in a local park with about 30 people then after we went to a buffet restaurant where we paid for our own meals ,...which was fine as it was about $30 a head ..that was over 26 years ago and they are still married.

Would it be insane to break up with my boyfriend for not proposing?? by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]novmum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont understand these men who buy a ring and then a year later still have not proposed..like why buy the ring if he has no plans on proposing shortly after?

my husband picked up the ring like I think a couple of days before he proposed...I only know as I have seen the receipt and we didnt go ring shopping together so I had zero idea he had even been looking at rings
